A question for the Europeans
Are you familiar with "Lyoness" the cash back rewards program? Is it popular over there? Do you use it?
|
No, what is it?
|
Never heard of it.
|
What's that?

I saw a presentation about it when they wanted to get my girl's dental clinic involved in their program. It sounded like a pyramid scheme and I told the guy to fuck off. Might have just been a shitty presentation though - this country is full of "financial advisors" driving around in 15 year old VW Golfs wearing wrist watches from Tesco trying to tell me how to make money.

See sig ;-)
Yes i've heard about it;p |

Yes and yes, it's quite nice. Used at the registered partners of Lyoness you get a percentage (max 2%) back of the money spent. It's not much but at least it lowers the cost of gas for my car. :) Most of the retailers in Europe work with them.
|
Heard about it and did a lot of research. It's a 100% MLM Pyramid 'scam'. It is not popular anywhere, despite what some people claim. Do not get involved.
Everyone that claims it's good or that you can use it or make money is involved in it and probably put money in it and is trying to convince you that it's good. |

The only way they are 'involved' with all the retailers they claim is trough affiliate level and trough coupons/gift certificates. This is 100% MLM scam, anyone that claims different is already financially involved or lying and did not do his research. |
UK, never heard of it
|
Just for the record, the actual cashback system works, because of the way it's setup with the affiliate shopping and gift certificates, but for most people this is pretty useless.
The biggest thing about the Lyoness is the MLM part (although they claim it's not, but everyone knows better). The cashback part is legit, so that's why the whole thing is legal. But for most people in most countries the cashback part is utterly useless. It's a very smart setup, but in the end its a MLM pyramid and you won't make money if you are not very smart or at the very top and just getting involved for the cashback part is useless. |
Useless pyramid scheme, actually one guy tried to push it on Dragons' Den Canada and got shat on. Pretty funny to watch actually http://youtu.be/2H8GxfMoVUI?t=25m12s

Amazing how stupid that guy is, he bought in for 10K and made $0 and will never make any money. And it's the same stupid pitch all the others make. "It's not a pyramid" "People signup for free" bla bla bla |

Yep, I hear about it once in a while, nothing spectacular for me to even consider, but plenty of people are into it. Its real deal (I mean not some shady scam), even major supermarket chains are in it.
