if you have a cross, that's a symbol of christianity

if you have a inverted cross, that's something completely different

While I see the point you're trying to make, it's a bad example. In the case you're presenting, YES it is still a cross...AND it's still part of Christianity. If it's upside then it's devil worship, the devil is part of that religion, therefore same thing. Also, an inverted CROSS by definition is still a cross.

First off, the swastika is an ancient symbol which pre-dates Christianity and has been used by different cultures throughout times.

The usage of the swastika then is dependent of context.

Somebody says "Good luck to you all!" and closes it with a left-facing swastika is unlikely to be a Nazi sympathizer. On the other hand, if some asshole goes "white power!" and uses a right-facing swastika then sure, fire away.
