Oh, and- another thing. A living wage is not $9 or $22/hr. My middle ex makes $21.xx/hr and has a shitty life even though she doesn't waste money. She manages to have an automobile that runs and a place to house her children and that is about it.

How many hours a day is your ex working?

Alot of people seem to have no forethought. If you raise minimum wage, you lower employment because it becomes less affordable to hire. So businesses have to raise prices, and you're back to where you started.

Not enough info on your ex. Where does she live? How many kids? What is her housing cost etc?

I have a friend with a wife and two kids. He makes $18 per hour. His wife works part time and makes about $10 per hour. That means in an average week they bring home and average of about $920 per week. If it were just one of them working 40 hours that works out to $23 per hour and they have a decent life. They bought a small three bedroom house, have two older, but decent cars and manage to go out to dinner a few times per month and go on vacation every summer because they manage their money and don't waste it on shit they don't need.
