Pictures of the new factory

I finally made some time to take some pictures of the new shop. I went up on the scissors lift with the maintenance supervisor to take some of them.

More to come..

bns666 03-19-2013 11:35 AM

what kind of factory is it?

Sid70 03-19-2013 11:37 AM

I like the lobby the best.

Minte 03-19-2013 11:42 AM

First view inside the shop
http://www.bikinipage.com/gfy/plant/05.JPG

Plastics side of the building. Notice the new lights! The metals side still has the sodium. We are doing the lights in groups of 100. These new lights will save nearly 60% of the energy costs it takes to run them. And I could get a car every month for what the electric bill is!
http://www.bikinipage.com/gfy/plant/06.JPG

The metal side of the building. The coils of steel in this picture weight nearly 5000 pounds each. The VP of metals tells me we are scheduled to process over 3000 tons of steel this year.
http://www.bikinipage.com/gfy/plant/07.JPG

This is the laser cell. This department runs 24 hours a day along with the plastics department. The rest of the metal shop runs 2 shifts and a Saturday shift from time to time.

is that your personal pink fork lift? ;-)

Minte 03-19-2013 11:50 AM

I'm standing in the middle of the stamping department
http://www.bikinipage.com/gfy/plant/09.JPG

We are still setting up the tire assembly department.
http://www.bikinipage.com/gfy/plant/10.JPG

Some plant offices
http://www.bikinipage.com/gfy/plant/11.JPG

I am up on the scissors lift. The building is 32 feet to the rafters. We didn't go all the way up. On the left is plastic finishing and to the right is the weldshop.

Your pics are giving me a boner.

Are you getting involved in bio-plastics at all? I just read a report about the explosion of the use of bio-degradable plastics in Asia. Made from sugar cane and other such plants.

Anyway, you have an inspiring new property. I hope it is a great year for you.

A better shot of the weld shop and the mold department. This group builds the molds that we run in the plastics department.
http://www.bikinipage.com/gfy/plant/13.JPG

This is a new mold being built. This is a small to average size part. Our largest plastics machine will mold a golfcart. We just ordered a new plastics machine that will be delivered in June that will mold a VW bug. The footprint of this new machine is 37 feet wide by 54 feet long and it's nearly 24 feet tall.

http://www.bikinipage.com/gfy/plant/14.JPG

Another shot in the moid fabrication department
http://www.bikinipage.com/gfy/plant/15.JPG

The area of the plant that I took the pictures in is a little over half of the space we have here.
This is the last of the pictures to post. I took over 100 of them.

Our shipping manager is female. And she wants to make sure HER pallet jack doesn't end up somewhere else,so she ordered our only pink one.

We are using some in very specific areas. Mostly made from corn. Everything we mold is 100% recyclable. Nothing gets tossed.

2013 03-19-2013 12:04 PM

how much do you pay?

The average wage in the factory is in the teens per hour, plus benefits.

Jman 03-19-2013 12:19 PM

Since Markham ain't here to ask this VERY important question.... How many bathrooms??? ;)

J. Falcon 03-19-2013 12:20 PM

I don't know for sure.

The building has a 4160 volt service @34.5 KVA..I was told that translates to over 9000 amps of 480v.

Tom_PM 03-19-2013 12:20 PM

You must have a lot of real estate on the roof for solar.

Spunky 03-19-2013 12:21 PM

Are you hiring? I don't see too many people working there
They are slacking,I'd fire them

HelmutKohl 03-19-2013 12:22 PM

12 acres.. I am looking at a large wind generator, first . I met with one of the state agencies already for permits to install one. The city might be another issue. They don't like them. They say they are unsightly and distracting to the area.

EddyTheDog 03-19-2013 12:26 PM

Looks awesome - But I think your workers are on strike :(.

Neither. You can see things that we are making in the pictures. We mold over 850 different part numbers for many different customers. The VW is only a point of reference for the size parts we can mold here.

This building is just huge. There are over 150 people working on the first shift. The 2nd and 3rd shifts are progressively smaller.

Sweet factory! Let's see the parking spot to see your Lambo or Porsche.

Company pays 70% of healthcare. 100% dental, 100% life and we contribute to a 401k.

A Canon EOS T3

We are closing in on 100% still lots of things to put away, organize, setup and wire.

It was a real challenge moving 2 plants into this building and NOT losing any sales. We had planned for 5 months and it ended up taking a little over 6 months to complete.

Nice hobby! Taking over the business that your Dad started is a good job if you can get it. :winkwink:

I understand that you used to do some non-nude Bikini websites - are you still in porn (if bikini/non-nude pix is considered "porn")?

Well, good luck getting it going. Those things can do a lot of generating and the vertical ones are no more an eyesore than a smoke stack except they don't smoke. Hopefully the city council is not of yesterdays generation I guess. Of course if it were up to me, it'd almost be a mandate to generate at least X% if your own power.

omgt 03-19-2013 12:50 PM

so how come the "Accounting offices" - are empty ?

Wizzo 03-19-2013 12:51 PM

My father didn't start it alone. Him and I started it together. We started as a tool and die company. Unfortunately, he didn't live long enough to see the plastics. When he died in the 1990's we were 18 employees in a 3800 sq ft shop.

That's a weeping fig. I had it in my office for nearly 15 years at the old building. My new office only faces north and they need more sun, so the lobby was the perfect place for it.

We painted a load of our tools pink because they kept walking out the door. Worked quite well in stopping it :)
