Quick SE question
If a search term like let's say "green table" gets 5000 searches a month but the greentable.com is not available. I instead buy greentablestore.com. How relevant is the "green table" search term then?
If this makes any sense :) |
you should have no problems

I find that having the keyword in the domain can help, but it's not essential. There are so many different elements that can contribute to a good listing that missing one of them is typically not going to totally kill you.
Think of being attracted to a mate. You might be interested in looks, figure, humor, personality, and intelligence. Odds are if one of those five elements is missing, you will still be attracted to that person. |
Exact match domains got devalued a while ago anyway, just keep it relevant and you will be good.

It's not weighed as much as before Sep 29, 2012.. But it still helps.
Do good SEO things like make the site actually about green tables, name images like contemporary-green-table.jpg using hyphens and not underscores or nothing at all, trade links with other table/furniture sites (I have a few if you're interested), use Feedburner and auto tweet to a Twitter acct about green tables when new posts are added (if a blog), pin to Pinterest on a tables or green tables board/s and verify the domain for a good do-follow backlink from them, etc. :upsidedow |
Great info, thanks Colmike and the other girls!

domain isn't everything but it helps, can debate how much it helps, but why not take any advantage you can get :2 cents:
