The earthquake was of 5.2 magnitude according to this


real-time earthquake map here and centered around Big Bear Mountain.

5.2 is not big
if it gets over 6 or 6.5 thats big and can cause some damange.

Fuck me - I was living in Pleasanton California for the '89 quake. Holy Shit! I was at work at the time; It knocked everything off of every shelf. We ran outside only to see my little motorcycle bonucing around on it's kickstand. I swear the pavement looked the the ocean with waves in it!

The aftermath wasn't much better. Pretty much everything shut down. No power, phones, no TV, and everything was closed. Streets were closed down becuase of downed power lines and what not.

It's something I'll never forget.
