Value a domain for sale
 

I have a site for traffic in my LLC company name. There is another company with the same name that works with churches. So that owner contacted me because now my site is getting enough hits to put it on his 1st page Google search. I called him & he sounded like his idea was to going to be to attempt to legally force me to do something. I cut him off & started talking business & he said to send him a price to sell my domain. Any ideas on how to come to a value?

The price set can be higher if someone really wants the domain, if there's traffic on..

I have paid some good domain 10$ and some few K

So the value is between how much someone is willing to pay vs how much you think it worth.

If its a small company/church i doubt they will be willing to pay a lot

I came to a value of $2594. $719 for the domain, $1125 for the loss of the site, graphics, etc.. & $750 for the time to go around & swap out all the banners & links.

always go a little higher than ya want as most will counter a first offer, gives ya a little room to pretend he's twisting your arm when in reality you never wanted your initial price :2 cents:

Do some research on him... try to figure out what kind of $$ he has. Not to say that it's good to be a gold digger but hell... what if he's expecting you to come back with a number like 15,000.. and you come back with 2500?

Dont let your domain name go cheap in this case.. especially if you've worked to establish the name.

Check when his LLC was established and where. You may have been first to the scene. Two LLC's with the same name can happen if in different states.. But trademarking the name is what will nail ya.. And i searched trademarks411.com and there's no trademark for your name. No trademark... I think legally your free to do whatever you want and dont have to give up shit.. But i'm not a lawyer. There's tons of LLC's with the same name.. If this guy wants you gone.. he's gonna have to pay you to be gone...

As previously stated, unless they own the trademark to the name or they have an LLC incorporated under that name and you don't, they don't have a legal leg to stand on. As far as valuation, the name seems to be pretty diluted already with the majority of the web presence being from a trucking company and a DJ outfit.

Realistically, it is a pretty low-rate domain name, but things are worth whatever people are willing to pay for them.

Thanks to all for the advice. If this was a situation like where that band "The Tea Party" had a domain that was valuable, I'd have shot for the moon. But just some guy not wanting porn to come up in his company's search... I think what I offered is fare. He has not responded so I'll just do my thing.

Be sure to include 12 months revenue into that price too. Usually what I do is average it all out say if you make between 411$-499$ a month, I'd round that to 400 and then multiply by 12. A lot of people are not aware of this, before I got into adult I used to flip non-adult sites often.

Looks like he was able to get my site to stop coming up on his search. He must have gone to the Google.....

Depends on domain and business that can be earned by that domain... :) Keep it little high !!
