The point is not to extend your agony, it's to extend healthy life. This type of thing actually reverses aging.

Have you ever heard of stem cell replacement therapy? They can replace damaged heart cells with healthy heart cells, and basically give you a heart transplant... with your own heart. You won't be living an extra 100 years of shitty life... you'll be super fit, and living an extra 100 years.

Gene therapy will be the only thing to stop aging completely. Until you see the vast majority of genetic diseases cured don't expect biological immortality. It's a long way off but we have cured a few diseases by replacing DNA.

I have so many things I want to do and not enough time to do them. Give me another 70 years of feeling young and healthy and I'd have more time for my money making schemes to come to fruition. lol

Fighting disease, improving immune function and so on have
absolutely nothing to do with the core problem of DNA strands breaking down.

Dunno man. They can already stretch it out to well over a decade now and quantum leaps in treatment and medication are pretty frequent. I mean - you have Alzheimer's next year, get on all the current drugs right away to slow its progression and in the next 5 years, there is likely to be a new class of drugs that will slow it slow it and so on. So it's not unreasonable to hope to be in a vegetative state for decades if that's the plan :)

Don't worry, it won't be affordable for most people. And as 150 year old life pills are passed around to those who can afford it, the lesser people will be killed off with various cancers to balance it all out.

well I'm a rum drinker and as I may not live to 150, I'll live to 90 singing!!!

human DNA breaks down at about 120 years - you can cure every disease we die from but at this time but it will still be game over by 120.

BUT biotechnology and more importantly nanotechnology are making big progress from what I've read and in the next 25 years or so they'll be able to modify/repair DNA at the sub microscopic level.

The world can't handle people living to 150 years. Food, resources and living space will disappear in short order.
