no, not new at all

and they don't allow it, but until the copyright owner complains, they will happily take the revenue from the ads against it.

facialfreak 03-10-2013 10:14 AM

YouTube has had full length movies for a while now ...

You can even "rent" newer releases from YouTube ...

You're naive if you think this is true... YouTube gets more uploads in a single day than every major porn tube gets in a week... You honestly believe they can police the content uploaded? They have pretty good filters to get rid of a lot of the stuff, but some things they can't control... but they will gladly take down any video whether it has 1 view or 1 million views with the use of a proper DMCA.

JamesM 03-10-2013 10:37 AM

yt is just another tube.
but they follow dmca.

Yep, the Zep concert's among the newest, though.

kane 03-10-2013 01:49 PM

If they really wanted to prevent it they could set their software to automatically reject any video that is more than 10 minutes (or whatever their max is) long.

Still wouldn't eliminate the full movie multi-parts.

when i wanted to had a movie of more than 15 minutes, i had to give my gsm number to get a confirmation code.
I don't understand how people can submit illegal stuff with this gsm thing without getting busted.

georgeyw 03-10-2013 03:04 PM

With youtube, you have to chase up and send them copyright notices through their system. For musicians their music can be automatically detected if it is in the yt filter. IF not then they can't care a fuck.

georgeyw 03-10-2013 07:49 PM

Thanks Green Street Hooligans was just as good the second time around.

It wouldn't hurt :2 cents:

Most thieves are lazy. Wouldn't take the time for the added step of re-editing or splitting up clips unless there was $ in it for them.

Google is some kind of mafia on the internet nowadays.

Matt 26z 03-10-2013 11:52 PM

YouTube has a liscense that allows their users to upload songs of just about every major band. They might be getting liscenses for some movies now also.

They also have a deal where if they find someone has uploaded something using a band's song they contact the band. If the band wants it taken down they take it down. If not they keep it up and the band can get the revenue from that video. the article I read talked about that Gangnam Style guy and how there were thousands of people doing dance videos with his song and he was getting paid from all of them.

Zeiss 03-11-2013 01:19 AM

Yes. sure. That's why I am a member of BMI... The guys that make sure you get paid when your music gets played.:1orglaugh

Because only Hollywood is capable of making videos that are longer than 10 minutes?

After two years, what has prevented the copyright holder picking up the title by searching "full length"? Maybe they just don't give a shit.

Other ways to prove you don't give a shit about piracy include: posting multiple links to infringing material, as you like to do.

No, but they could easily put a block on anything over 10 minutes long then have you submit some kind of information showing that you either own or have the rights to post something longer.

I had always thought that they only allowed people with special accounts to upload anything longer than 10 minutes, but that clearly is not the case.

My kid wanted to watch My Little Pony, so I just went to YouTube. Pulled up all the episodes, 2.5 seasons worth...and currently up to date. Some with over a half million views.

Three of these episodes came first, in the search results, before the ones Hasbro has uploaded. To watch the Hasbro videos, you have to pay $1.99 per episode for 720p videos. The freebies are uploaded in 1080.

Got a chuckle out of that.
