Free advice for those with dedicated servers who need more power
 

1. If you don't have apc on get it turned on right now.
2. Use memcached or redis if you have any scripts which can take advantage of them.
3. Use ningx or lighttpd. If you need to stick with apached then use Varnishd.

You'll be amazed at what this can do for your speed and load averages.
