Totaled my truck because a drunk ran a stop sign. I ended up with broken bones, arm, fingers, ribs. I'm actually able to type at a decent speed for the first time in a long time. All of my casts came off last week.

I hope I didn't have any work from you that went incomplete! How are you doing bud?

Thank you! She was 12-years-old and one of my best buddies. She left a big hole in my life to be filled.

People who drive drunk should be punished so much harder than they do now.

L-Pink 03-08-2013 09:22 AM

Sorry about your buddy.

robwod 03-08-2013 09:24 AM

Hey Failed... wow... I had wondered why I never saw you around. Really sorry to hear about your dog.

Glad your feeling okay. My cast came off last week. What an annoyance that was.

DirtyF: agreed 100%.

I completely agree. Even if I would have died as a result of the accident the maximum sentence the drunk driver would receive is 7 years for vehicular manslaughter, so some of the officials I spoke with have said.

This was the man's 5th DWI offense and his blood/alcohol level was twice the legal limit. He walked away from the crash with few scrapes. The police officers said that he would serve time and probably get out and do the same thing again...that he didn't even ask if I was alright.

I was unable to care for myself 100% and really depressed. It was like I lost my independence and manhood for a while. And, I wasn't able to type, lol.

Thanks and I hope you're doing okay too! I'll shoot you an email sometime soon and catch up with you in more detail.

I have to carry her up and down the front stairs but she's hanging in there. Thanks.

i have a 12 year old dog as well, he's good in spirits and energy but he has a lot of health problems that will catch up with him eventually, will hurt a lot when he goes so i can imagine how that feels. Sorry to hear it.

Hope you are back and healthy in time for some good spring weather anyway.

SmutHammer 03-08-2013 10:21 AM

Sorry to hear about your accident and loss, Hope the rest of the year goes a lot better for you.

It definitely hurts and leaves a feeling of emptiness in your life. For me, she wasn't a pet, she was family and a friend. I know some people think that's absurd, but absurd or not it was true for me.

During the final months when her health problems were compiling, we knew it was nearing her time. We took pictures, videos, spoiled her rotten, and made her as comfortable as we could.

When we took her to the vet after her last heart attack the vet suggested we put her down and that it was time. We had a long discussion in the exam room. Ultimately, she decided for us and gave us comfort at the end. We looked into her eyes and could see her pleading for us to put her to rest.

Thanks Glen! Cherish the time (hopefully years!) you have left!

Haha, I had to do this for her too. She was fine to walk and run short distances, but the old bones just couldn't get her up and down the stairs. After a while she would turn sideways at the top or bottom of the stairs and stare me in the eye letting me know she was ready to go up or down. She had me trained well!

Sorry to hear about your mess of troubles. Had a friend killed by a drunk in the 80's.. friend and little brother. Both strapped in with seat belts and the drunk was so wasted he flew through his windshield with minor scratches and got no jail time.

From what I hear it's because they are so relaxed at the time of impact the chance of injury is significantly reduced in comparison to sober drivers who naturally tense up right before impact.

Sorry to hear about your friend too. I personally believe if you murder someone by driving under the influence you should be charged with murder and sentenced accordingly.

Tom_PM 03-08-2013 10:35 AM

Yeah I think so too. Can you imagine what it was like up until the late 60's or so? You could chug beer or whiskey in a car with no safety devices while pets and kids crawled around in the back and not break a law.

Rochard 03-08-2013 10:42 AM

2013 is going great for me.

So far the worst thing was our garbage crisis. Two weeks ago I made a dump run on a Saturday, and then my wife decided to do some spring cleaning and I did some more cleaning on Sunday - leaving us with way too much garbage to through out. The following weekend was more of the same. For three weeks were were "storing garbage" because we had more than we could get rid of.

Otherwise, great.

If a garbage crisis is the worst that happens in 2013 you're going to have a damn fine year! :thumbsup

Thank you! Very kind of you. Very kind of all of you.

It's amazing, and I was just commenting to cybmike in email... all of the adult clients I have are incredibly understanding. Even when I informed them I had to stop writing immediately and they had to look for someone new on the spot. While my mainstream clients ripped me a new asshole and didn't care one bit that I had no use of my arms or fingers.

Sorry to hear about your run of bad luck - I had an awful 2012, but things are looking up now...

Luckily, he was driving his mother's car and it was insured. The guy didn't even have his driver's license and was out driving and getting wasted. I hired an attorney just to make sure my medical bills would be covered and to deal with their insurance company. I have the option of going after them for pain/suffering/etc.

I've decided and told my attorney I just want enough money to cover physical therapy and a small fund that could be used in case there are complications down the road. I don't want to sue him personally, only for his mother's sake. The woman actually sent me a letter apologizing for her son's actions and explained her hardships with him over the years. The last thing I want to do is bring more pain to her through her drunken son.

*Edit - I think there are times where I'm too nice for my own good. Maybe I should sue for all the money I can get. But man, I don't know if I could sleep at night for doing it.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I'm not looking forward to physical therapy. It's going to be 2 months of pain and small gains.

I would of taken some of the scene itself if I was in a any shape to do so. I love that kind of stuff. But, I do have pictures from the junkyard of my truck smashed into what looks like a very compact version of the original. The interior looks like a murder took place and the only thing that was bleeding was my nose. I will get them uploaded and share :)
