My moms basement scares me... It's really old, and dirty with cob webs... I'm content locked in the bat cave of my own apartment with the soothing light of my 3 computers and plasma TV.

My parents basement is actually pretty sweet and opens out onto the lake. I'd love to live there, but will have to wait until I retire.

My cousin just moved home after college. Her parents spent about $20k turning their basement into an apartment for her to live in. She has separate entrance and her own little kitchen area, bathroom, living room and bedroom. It's probably about 1500 square ft of total living space and she lives rent free.

She's also a Pharmacist and makes $60k right out of school.
