"CAIRO (Reuters) - The United States will give Egypt $190 million to support the government's budget, Secretary of State John Kerry said on Sunday.

Washington was providing the aid in light of President Mohamed Mursi's "assurance that he plans to complete the IMF process", Kerry said in a statement after meeting Mursi in Cairo.

Egypt says it wants to reopen talks with the IMF on a $4.8 billion loan which was agreed in principle last November but suspended at Cairo's request following street unrest."

As much as it sucks, they look at it as an investment. But its an investment that won't pay off.

It's been going on for years.. We give money out like candy to countries all around the world so they buy from our defense contractors.. Yet the thought of providing free health care & education to the people whom live in this country, is considered socialism.

Don't kid yourselves these kind of payments are nothing but subsides to US owned defense contractors and various others..

Egypt operates the 4th largest F16 based airforce in the world. Meaning they are good customer to Lockhead and that means US tax payer subsidy checks.

The last couple of weeks they have talked about all the budget cuts that will be forced on us and people losing their jobs and here we turn around and do this. Going to be pretty hard to explain to a guy who works for the government why he has to lose his job because we can't afford to pay him, but we can afford to give this money to another country.

Cue GrantMercury to tell us how "greedy" we all are for NOT wanting to give away the money we earned to the govt. in taxes so they can give it away to other countries and give it to their defense contractor, green energy, oil company, and a thousand other political cronies.

But I'd say that decades later it is an utter and complete failure (everybody hates us because of all the conditions we attach to the money).

Why in the world are we giving money to Israel? So they can take some more territory that isn't theirs?

It isn't free money. There are US interests being funded somewhere in this.

My guess would be that security of tourist areas is one thing. That has fallen apart since the Egyptian uprising. They used to have security perimeters and police checkpoints to keep local criminals away from the tourists. But now the tourists are roaming freely and going into areas they shouldn't be in because nobody is there to stop them.

So our country is going broke...and we are funding security for TOURISTS in Egypt??? WTF?!?!?!?

How about people who are homeless right here in the U.S.? Or people who are hungry? Or people who need medicine and medical care?
That money would go a long way in helping AMERICANS in need wouldn't it?

Thing with Israel is that it has the same owners as the US, so sending money from US to Israel is just the right hand passing money to the left.

However Egypt is not owned externally, sending money to them is an attempt to gain/maintain control :2 cents: If it fails, in go the 'Rebels' who won't have far to travel :2 cents:
