What is worther? An pound of feather or an pound of gold?

I am posting an answer later.

Depends if it lands on your head :2 cents:

TheSquealer 03-01-2013 02:52 PM

depends on the unit of measurement for each

No, it doesn't.. it depends on which one is more valuable by weight.

If it's some rare ass god damned stupid thing some kind of feather that is worth a-lot of money a pound of it could be worth a-lot more than a pound of gold (I have no idea if rare expensive feathers exist, but since tulip bulbs once sold for the price of a house and the world gets dumber every day- I'd believe it)

Ever heard the old trick question, "which weighs more a pound of feathers or a pound of gold?" The answer is supposed to be neither, because both would be a pound, yet that answer is technically incorrect.

Gold is universally weighed using a different measurement system than most other materials. It is weighed using the troy system, and troy ounces. This system is measured so that 12 troy ounces makes up 5760 grains to the pound, while the common measurement for feathers would make them equal to 7000 grains to the pound. Thus, a standard pound of feathers technically weighs more than a pound of gold!
A pound of gold feathers is worthiest... :2 cents:

Of course,.... and i have to say, the way you deduced that gold is more valuable than feathers was impressive.

SleazyDream 03-01-2013 03:32 PM

there might be some rare feathers that are worth more, but for the most part, a pound of gold is worth more than a pound of feathers.

I didn't even say that gold was more valuable than feathers.

There's no way you spelled "feathers". You learned how to use copy/paste functions OR you're not really you.

OP is obviously not a native English speaker but "worther" makes perfect sense if you think about it.

Example:

If a thing is loud but another thing makes more noise, that other thing is "loudER".

Therefore to someone with a limited English vocabulary, a thing which has "worth" has more worth if it is "worther".

Kudos to the OP for trying because English is a very, very difficult language to learn!

Trying to learn english in the middle of GFY is the worst idea anyone ever has had. What if he runs into sleazydream and picks up on the way he writes? He'll be having nightmears and living in moterhomes the rest of his life :(

Penny24Seven 03-01-2013 05:12 PM

I remember a riddle as which one weighs more but never about which is worth more. Is it 24K gold or 10K haha. Are the feathers from the same animal or not.

Did anyone figure out what worther is? If we knew that we could perhaps answer rest of the question.

Matt 26z 03-02-2013 11:41 PM

Peacock feathers run 50c to $1 each. I can't find out how much they weigh though. Just one site saying they weigh as much as a dead baby.
