Desigers that choose non-webfonts for website design should be shot
Plain as day, right in the face.
:mad::mad: |
why? modern browsers can display non-webfonts without any trouble.
|

Taking off my 'I like Poo' hat, and my 'I cat afford...' hat...
AND WITHOUT BEING A DELIBERATE CUNT... Isn't this really YOUR fault, as opposed to their fault? You are the one paying the piper after all... :2 cents: |

Meeting with client + design agency. I say: Remember to use a webfont. Design agency says: Yea sure, we know. <time goes by> Design agency comes back with design: "Hey client approved this, please build it". I go: "That's not a webfont......" And then my planning goes down the drain. But yea. Still my problem. |
Don't they know that the secret to making money online is to use a webfont in the design? Now how are you going to make money?!
|
I hate the look of CSS3 tracers, thats ugly, still prefer PNG for heading text.
|

I've had that problem numerous times, but was able to solve it 75 - 80% of the cases. If it's not on Google's fonts, cufon is your second best bet as far as looks go.
If you simply can't do jack shit about it, send it back to design to rebuild it or search for a similar font. |

Crisis averted. But we really couldn't CSS us out of that problem in any sensible way. Or so the techies told me. Edit: I see I suck at titles. Desigers = Designers. Was angry lol |
I'm not a fan of using fonts that is not a webfont. If I'm going to use a different font. It will be for the titles or header which will be a graphic font.

I like webfonts , png is old school and not good for google serch engine .. If you pick the right font is almost as same as in photoshop if you use css3 gradients :)

I agree there are lots of inconsistencies (which can be solved with cufon, although I'm not a big fan of it) but really.... with this way of thinking we should been using vegetable pigments on a rock. All technologies have a time of adaptation, which is worst nowadays because of competition between companies, but when 100% of the best designed sites uses custom fonts... well, there's no much room for discussion. Simple as that.
On a side note, strange how adult is becoming more and more obsolete in technology trends, exception made for a few ones who know their stuff. While the whole "adult is ahead of mainstream" motto is and always was just a myth without any basis, the last 3-4 years it became like really really conservative and anachronistic. Really weird. |
