Truely that seems rude, by any sense of the word.
But we've been friends and allies with Turkey for a while now, esp in regards to the issue of Iraq... I spent a little time up there during Desert Storm I....the Turks were a blast to work with... good people, and good troops.... unfortunately, like many of our allied countries right now the leaders may be with us but most general populations feel a bit different. I think Bush & the other global bosses needed to 'sell' this issue a little more... nothing beats a good invasion though like Part I, hard to top that reason.... well unless you consider WMD dissemination to people that hate us an issue... |

You just did.... and thank you. We'll take it under advisement, and get back to you after the war. |

oh FYI that didn't know this already...
we have several troops stationed on a permanent basis in Turkey all the time...it's not like we invaded Turkey to fuck up Iraq.... There are a handful of AF and other branch installations there allll the time....We're just puffing up before the beat down... however you win on the appearance of rudeness issue....I'm sure there are WAY more details to this story than any of us pinheads will every know about...I include myself in that statement.... we're SOOOO far away from 'the loop' that it's a dot to us.... |

WTF are YOU talking about? Oh yeah, you were watching the news. We've been in Turkey since the Gulf War (and a lil before, but hey, that's neither here nor there.). Stop watching the news. Propaganda only goes so far.:glugglug |

Behind the scenes politics, not even CNN will know the real truth to all the "deals" that take place |

...like one person in this thread mentioned the KEY issue at hand with Turkey, that we also had to deal with in DS I, was whether or not they'd allow us to launch 'attacks' from there. They always allow us to do reconnaissance, and humanitarian missions, but an attack posture is totally different. All this talk of Turkey is making me kinda miss the few months i was there last time... I actually tried to get a permanent assignment at one of the Air Bases, it was only going to be a 1 year tour.....and the food and shopping and historical things to see in Turkey are awesome :) :thumbsup |
who cares about turkey?

Actually Turkey has basically been a close friend of the USA since the Korean war with a couple of minor bumps along the way.

Very true, and when you think about it... We're gonna need more troops in the general region and Turkey no matter what. Whether they allow us to 'attack' from there or not, the aftermath will require quite a bit of clean up, tons of humanitarian aid missions, security forces initially, etc.... Let's not forget that after Desert Storm I, we flew a shitload of humanitarian missions dropping off food, clothing, medicine, etc to the Kurds in N. Iraq for well over a year if I recall correctly.... PS, the Kurds are the ones that Sadam doesn't mind gassing or slaughtering from time to time is why we were doing that... |

So where can I read more about this "invasion"?
And why do American troops need permission to LAND? It was my understanding that we either had a base there or permission to use their bases. |

What does it matter? Just like Equinox, you need to learn how to speak only when spoken to. |

And it was a joke... As in... Proper english being... "Stay the fuck out you stupid fuckin Yankee bastards until we say so, its our fucking country" instead of... Well, maybe, we're not sure yet, give us some time... |

God knows that Turkey, being the most developed country in the world, is really being dealt a rough deal. What with the US spending billions in foreign aid and whatnot. |

You seem to dislike the US very much Nydahl...what a shame... You are right, the Czech's were of great support during the first Storm in the NBC (chemical) side of the house... :thumbsup Why you wish to make it sound like we were on two diff teams amazes me. I personally know a few guys (US) that were affected by that shit pretty badly as I"m sure you know a few Czechs or is this just media regurgitation? |

You deal on our terms, or we bomb the fuck out of you. For reference, see the following link: History of the taliban controled afghanistan oil pipeline. How come during all that OBL/Taliban/Afghanistan stuff we didn't know there was a major oil pipeline going through that place. |
