Wait until you see Life of Pi on that screen. The Blu Ray comes out in a month but you can get the HD version from some of the OnDemand services now. Stunning fucking movie.

Yea, Didn't like that "Home Alone" sequence where it shows them building their defenses. And the part where the bad guy times the explosion and train to crash down between him and Bond. But otherwise, I liked it. Story and scenery were great.Comment

Daniel Craig is the pussiest Bond ever.
When did Bond start shaving his chest, being a short arse and going bald?

OK, we get it - you don't like Adele! I think you first started about on about this back in november...
I have her albums from the 19 one and quite like her voice. Skyfall I agree is now grating, but her voice is still great

can we chat about the film ?
i saw the movie at the theater and then added the movie to my bond collection, i have every one except the one not produced by brocolli, i always forget which one it is, never say never? hmmmmmm.
anyhoo, so i've watched this bond 2x so far and while i'll certainly watch it many more times, as it is very entertaining, it does deviate from the bond formula right? no gadgets? dang. re-introducing the db5 from goldfinger doesn't really count.
and the new q certainly didn't make a fancy introduction, especially letting his computer getting hacked.
I also wasn't sure about the gay innuendo going on between silva and bond....javier could have played the villian closer to the vest, imo..or just left that out as he actually does a good job overall.
it also has a couple of serious blunders, but that's never gotten in the way of a good bond flick before so i hope they don't here either.
it seemed weird to me too that they portray bond as close to done, perhaps i am worried the franchise is coming to an end. although that is maybe something a good trip to a weekend spa bond can sort out ;-)
just thinking out loud..........i did queue up goldfinger and watch it after watching skyfall the 2nd time and it certainly stands the test of repeated viewings, i've watched it dozens of times. i hope skyfall does too.Last edited by dyna mo; 02-25-2013, 02:46 PM.Comment

i was expecting it to be shit but i really loved it was not expecting the endingComment

If anything, it was a fresh start...at the very end of the movie, they have a new M and re-introduced Ms. Moneypenny as a new character. The movie started with him being done with it all, but it's been kind of re-booted with that ending.

I find it decent (even if i criticize adele in another topic but more because of the concept that is behind her that for her songs)Comment

i was surprised about the *new* moneypenny, not sure what that is all about, but the new m has potential. q has some explaining to do!

I don't mean a reboot of the movie series, because like you said, they already did that. It was more of a "back to the old school basics". When have you seen a recent James Bond movie where he walks into an office and puts his hat on the coat rack, and makes small talk with Ms Moneypenny -- just like back in Sean Connery and Roger Moore days? Or maybe he wasn't wearing a hat, I can't remember. Anyway, it reminded me of the old movies.

I thought it was pretty twisted - but definitely didn't make the 'sky fall' for me. GoldenEye was my favorite of all time.

well, they certainly set the table for a bigger moneypenny role going forward so i'm with you on that, + the new m has a nice backstory as well so i bet he'll play an even bigger role than judy dench's m, which she played so well.I don't mean a reboot of the movie series, because like you said, they already did that. BUT bond needs pussy and gadgets......!!!....i think that's what it is for me. hopefully we all won't have to wait another 4-5 years for the next one.Comment

if you read the books bond is 'shot out' in some of them by the experiences of doing what he does... and in the book the character is very cold blooded from what I remember.. to me Craig plays the character closer to the books than the other bonds... and after the first bond flick the 'bonds' were based on then film, that not the book....can we chat about the film ?

like porn portrayals are all based on a TV writers experience of watching a TV show written by a guy that saw a TV show etc ect ect...
and at this point I'm not sure what I think about skyfall other than 'wow!!! what a great looking film...' and I loved the villain... so unusual looking..Last edited by Grapesoda; 02-26-2013, 07:09 AM.Comment

it's funny you mention this, i've been thinking of reading 1 or so of the novels, i'll pick one up, prolly a quick read and i've always gotten a kick out of the ian fleming biographies i've seen with him writing at the goldeneye retreat in jamaica.if you read the books bond is 'shot out' in some of them by the experiences of doing what he does... and in the book the character is very cold blooded from what I remember.. to me Craig plays the character closer to the books than the other bonds... and after the first bond flick the 'bonds' were based on then film, that not the book....
