try asf tools. you can cut up wmv files with that

mpeg-1.

Thanks for the suggestions is there any other software I can use?
Thanks, Mark |
what you really should do is forget about the wmv. I bet the codecs that were used are so new that a lot of client machines acnnot play back the files.
MPG RULES>. |
you don't have your sample media in any other format than .Wmv? if you can come up w/ just edit the media *before* you encode it into .Wmv, thats much easier and a much more proper process..

You can Hire someone to convert it to anoter format for you.
I have a production tech who can do it for you. e-Mail me if you are interested. I will put you in touch with him. [email protected] |
I've run into the same problem. I use Ulead Studio Pro, which doesn't import wmv files. A lot of people seem to be confused about whether editing programs import wmv files, or make wmv files.
To date, I haven't found any that actually import wmv files for editing --- except for Movie Maker, and I too don't have XP. A lot of people will tell you that programs like Adobe Premiere, Pinnacle or Vegas will do that, but when I've checked the specs ---I haven't found that to be the case --- as least as far as I've seen. (Although I could be wrong.) No sense in spending a lot on those programs if they're not going to do the job. There's lots of freeware and stuff that will supposedly do the job, but then you have to gamble on potentially junky software with god knows what on it. I personally don't like to take that risk. Tough problem. I hope you have better luck than I have. |
Yeah we only have these files in wmv. We really need only 1 movie shortened. Thanks for everyones suggestions, not sure where to go from here.

Adobe Premiere 6.5

ASF TOOLS.
It is free, and it does exactly what you need. But if you really feel like paying, get Video Edit Magic. It's like $30 I think. |
BluMedia, if your still having a problem w/ this, let me know... if its only a short one you need i'll do it for you, no charge. i have a SGI Onyx2 up at work that can break it open for you, i'll give it back in .Mpg so you can edit it however you like... let me know, no biggie..

I think EZSplitter supports wmv now for splitting movies..
|
Take the suggestions mentioned about ASF Tools. It's really the best for editing wmv or asf movies. Cuts, split, append, whatever you want with little or no alteration of the original compression bit rate.
