Why don't we hear about this Holocaust over , and over , and over again ... ? I didn't even know it happened :Oh crap I was under the impression it was strictly Jews that suffered ? Another Horrible Mess

Yea, they let that one slip from the history books they taught us with in school. They conveniently left out a lot of important world history that I was in shock to learn about later in life.

From what we learn in British schools millions died in Holocaust - Poles, Russians, Rumanians, Jews. For some reason the only one who like to claim the "fame" are the Jews. How many movies have been about this and all of those are about Jews. Its a talent of bring on pity and make other feel sorry for them and guilty for others. Black have learned a thing or two from jews and successfully doing the same now.

um - did you even read that Wikipedia article? it's about Russian JEWS, Jews under the Czar had been restricted to living in an area called the Pale of Settlement, it was the largest population of Jews in the world, the area included parts of present day Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania - many of the Russian Jews in that area had moved into cities in Russia in the years before the war. When Hitler invaded Russia he did round up the Russian Jews and had mobile vans to gas them - it was the logistical problems with that method that led to the building of the Nazi death camps with gas chambers.

We need more holocaust awareness in this country. We should tear down the Washington and Lincoln Memorials, and use the stones for a gigantic holocaust memorial. Then we should carve Golda Meir's likeness into Mount Rushmore.

Though there was major famine prior to the Nazis in Russia the Germans invaded Russia in 1941 and instituted the Hunger Plan.. The Russians suffered big time in the German occupied territories.. The Nazis took the major bulk of the commodities from Russia and utilized them to feed the German troops.. This was a win win for the Germans because they wiped out so many Russians in a totally different mass killing style and they fed their troops..

I was taught about Jews, Gipsies and other "undesirables" being the victims of the holocaust. Usually this is mentioned in almost any documentary, so I don't see what the big deal is.

And after all that Soviet people suffered morons in EU and USA require visas to come and live. I would expect all ex Soviets to be accepted and settled in the USA for free, decent welfare provided lifetime.

Just to give you a comparison.... The US - which fought both in Europe and against Japan in the South Pacific - lost a grand total of 500k, which includes civilians. Germany lost seven million, both military and civilian.

Russia lost well over twenty million people - plus, they spent the next twenty years unfucking the damage.

Look, I'm a lifelong anti-communist who took a ROTC Scholarship during the Vietnam War and looked forward to fighting the kind of people who tortured innocent men, women, and children during the Tet Offensive at Hue, and later I actually did serve up against the Iron Curtain for three years. So I'm no apologist for the Communists. I lived most of my life equating Joe Stalin with the Devil - which may not be a totally incorrect judgment. But in fairness, consider this in assessing the campaigns of slave labor and forced collectivization and the intentional famine in the Ukraine to punish those who opposed collectivization -

And it is for that reason that he actually enjoyed popularity and gratitude by many other millions, and still has support today, as a Russian Patriot who saved his country. It is possible that Russia might have been preserved by no means less horrible. Again, I do not justify or support any of it, but fairness impels setting out what he might say in his own defense. And no, I do not support a morality that says the ends always justify the means. I condemn all of it as an atrocity.
