"The unprecedented censorship is justified by fears about damaging effects of the internet on children and women. "
"We have to be able to discuss a ban on violent pornography, which we all agree has a very harmful effects on young people and can have a clear link to incidences of violent crime,"
"It is looking a pornography from a new position - from the perspective of the harm it does to the women who appear in it and as a violation of their civil rights."
They seem to be all over the place with their arguments. It looks like another right-wing lead initiative to stir-up support.
Anytime I hear the words "Think of the children" in these types of articles I see someone looking for an excuse to ban porn.
Then they start talking about the violence women experience and how they need to be protected???? How banning porn in general will 'help' these few women who 'may' experience violence in porn is beyond me. I think that if a woman was beat up in porn then the police would do a much better job helping her than banning porn.
Again they are just throwing statements out left right and center and hoping the public makes associations ---> Porn, violence against women, children ... "don't you see people?"
