L-Pink 02-14-2013 11:35 AM

Serving the Secretariat cut should have been a tip off.

scottybuzz 02-14-2013 11:35 AM

Either you are willing to kill and eat another previously living creature, or you're not.

pretty common in slum areas

k0nr4d 02-14-2013 11:39 AM

What's wrong with eating horse meat? Is the problem that they are passing one off as the other or is it there actually some reason not to eat it?

Is Paris a "slum area" ?

Horse is on most menus in France - just another animal.

I agree - nothing should be mislabeled. That is a valid point.

a) passing it off as something else (bad in england where eating horse for some people is the same as eating dog)

b) These horses have come into the supply chain by criminals so they have not been tested for certain illnesses etc etc so this could be harmful for the body.

I have no problem with horse meat. I do have a problem with people scamming me.

I eat a lot of steaks and you couldn't tell the difference. Nobody could as this has been happening for years.

Dirty F 02-14-2013 12:38 PM

Wow just read that they have been serving horse for 60 years!
The thing is he bought it for half the price of beef but sold it as expensive beef.

i think it has more to the fact people are being duped, eating horse meat isn't exactly a new thing as i'm sure you already know. Can't say i would want it myself though.

I like horses, cows and pigs, they are pretty good animals, intelligent and playful much like a dog is but some taste better than others :)

..no i don't eat dog either!

Just like a really tasty steak. They got away with it for 60 years so obviously it doesn't taste different.

Horse as pretty much same texture as beef, nothing like game meat.

For my taste best red meat is Bison.

bns666 02-14-2013 01:20 PM

Yup. This restaurant is quite known for it steaks. It really is good meat.
But i'm pretty sure he lost most of his customers today. He screwed everyone over. For 60 fucking years. He deserves all the shit he will be getting.

Didn't anyone notice all the horses going to the slaughter house? It kind of baffles me how so many places are getting busted for serving horse meat over there.

CyberHustler 02-14-2013 01:29 PM

Reminds me of the cat meat the chinamen around here try to pass off as rib tips and general tso. I always tell them, don't lie to me... it tastes good I ain't complaining just don't lie. They still lie.

taste receptors has not much correlation with IQ. Plus its not necessary veal, often its cow.

Still, I know my steak is a proper beef cut when I see one.

Sly 02-14-2013 01:47 PM

I don't quite understand all this talk of "you can't tell the difference."

I can tell the difference in different cuts of meat. You all are saying there is no difference between horsemeat and cow meat? That's either very bizarre or you guys have some missing tastebuds.

And when it comes to the taste, what does it tell you if in 60 years not 1 person found out? That is tastes different or that is tastes the same. Can't wait for your answer.

As I said in my previous reply, it tells me you people need better taste buds.

Next you'll try telling me chicken and turkey taste the same.

So 100 thousands of people couldn't taste the difference. Not one! But you ofcourse would have noticed it right away. Am i correct Sly. Just a yes or no will do.

It tells me people are retards who have no taste in food.

They should just switch to porridge as it would make no difference to them.

CyberHustler 02-14-2013 02:24 PM

People probably have noticed the difference and got called "conspiracy nutters"
