Women shot in Calif. manhunt will to get new truck

A mother and daughter newspaper delivery team who were mistakenly shot by Los Angeles police hunting for a fugitive former cop will get a new pickup truck courtesy of the department.

LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith says the department's Chief Charlie Beck met with the women in their Torrance home Saturday to apologize and tell them he had arranged for someone to donate a new pickup truck.

The truck will be donated early this week, Smith said.

The women were accidentally struck by gunfire in the pre-dawn hours Thursday after it was reported that Christopher Dorner was sighted in the area. Beck called it a case of mistaken identity.

Dorner has vowed to avenge his firing from the department, which he wrote in an online manifesto was retaliation for reporting officer violence.

I worry more about getting shot by the cops accidently than I do about being a victim of gun violence... remember this> police jobs for the most part are boring and routine and people with higher intellect get bored and look for other work, plus with forced hiring based on 'other factors than qualifying for the job' there are very very many 'lose canons' out there running around with loaded guns, bad attitudes and paranoid reactions.

rock-reed 02-10-2013 10:43 AM

I can't believe LAPD was so stupid and did this.

These women should get millions.

L-Pink 02-10-2013 10:46 AM

I hope they don't sign anything that comes with this new free truck. You just know LAPD is trying to avoid a 100 million lawsuit.

.

HushMoney 02-10-2013 10:55 AM

They deserve millions. It woke me out of bed and was at least 30 shots, all from the cops, all without return fire obviously. No questions asked. it sounded like the shoot out at the OK fucking Corral. Ridiculous they did that with no provocation. :2 cents:

EliteWebmaster 02-10-2013 10:57 AM

You can't fix stupid and the LAPD is the epitome of stupid dating back to the Rodney King case, the botch handling of the OJ Simpson case. The LAPD is the poster child of Stupidity.

Hope the girls get millions and millions of dollars

xNetworx 02-10-2013 11:08 AM

They will settle with them out of court and very quickly I would think

That thought occurred to me as well.

crockett 02-10-2013 11:19 AM

The other dude they shot the fuck out of is also posturing for a lawsuit. Sadly it will be tax payers that end up flipping the bill at the end, but LAPD needs to have their asses sued off.

Perhaps some heads will roll..

Could cops maybe wait until they see a threat before they actually start blasting away?

Where is your bed?

MrMaxwell 02-10-2013 03:53 PM

If they shot me up for no apparent reason and I had that much media coverage they can keep their truck and I'm looking for some serious ass money

For one thing first of all I'd like a Police car and to be deputized for fun and then put me on the take and give me a pile of money in some settlement

I will be Mister Officer Friendly, then
Just like I am white and powerful
I would tell everyone, hey man, don't fight the power
