Using my servers as a proxy, squid or other server side software?

I was curious if anyone here has experience using software like squid or if there are any other opensource software out there for this purpose.

Try tinyproxy.

Free and pretty simple to set up.

Tinyproxy can get annoying if your IP changes a lot, they do a whitelist versus user/pass if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the advice on tinyproxy, unfortunately their site hasn't been loading at all.

I'm using glype, works pretty well.
We'll see how well it works for certain services.

Squid - you can set them up with authentication (sp?) with either username and password or tie them up to your IP (not a bad idea if you have static IP on yoru computer). It took me about three days to set it up on a CentOS server, but it was my first time having a non-Winodws server too, so that didn't help
