Stones Fans...

Just got word that The Rolling Stones are gonna be playing 2 nights here in Vegas at The MGM Garden Arena at the beginning of June.
This is "unofficial".

Looks like there is gonna be a full out world tour this summer. :)

I hear they booked DEPENDS (When ordinary adult diapers are not enough) as the tour sponsor...:winkwink:

The 1989 Rolling Stones Tour was known as the Steel Wheels Tour, although some of us jokingly referred to it as the Steel "Wheelchairs" Tour, since the Stones had been around so long already - and that was 23+ years ago, lol... :helpme

I saw the Stones in 1983 along with Heart and George Thorogood and they sucked back then. Can't imagine they would be any better now that they're 90.

I saw the Stones in '81 (30 years ago) at Candlestick Park in San Francisco (worst venue ever for a concert, with horrible acoustics), and the J Geils band and George Thorogood both did good solid sets before the Stones put on an incredible show:

Although it was a big spectacle, the Stones tours I have seen since have become such enormous stage productions, that in ways I feel that the larger than life bells and whistles take away from the intimacy that a smaller show might permit.

I saw them the first time in June 1978 on the opening date of the "Some Girls" tour at the Lakeland Civic Center in Lakeland Fla.

There was no announcement for the concert. My guitar teacher called me on the phone and told me The Rolling Stones were rehearsing at the Civic Center and would be playing their first show there. He told me to go down to the Civic Center Box Office NOW and get tickets before they were all gone.

So I drove there and paid $10.50 for tickets to "The Great Southeast Stoned Out Wrestling Champions"
Nothing on the ticket said "Rolling Stones" or that it was a concert at all.

A couple of hours later it hit the radio stations...but they were only able to announce that all 15,000 tickets had sold out in an hour via word of mouth only.

My mom was a deputy sheriff in Polk County and scored the gig to work security backstage.

The show was awesome and of course very high energy...This was 35 years ago so you can imagine.

My mom told me after the show that backstage was a fucking disaster! lol

Said the Ron Wood and Mick Jagger were nervous as school kids and snorting more cocaine than anyone had ever seen (and the cops...including my mom, didn't do anything but watch them do it. lol). She said they were chain smoking and drinking Jack Daniels out of the bottle right up to showtime.

She said Keith was rolled in on a fucking stretcher hooked up to oxygen tanks?!?!?!
Don't know what that was all about. But when the band was announced she said his handlers picked him up, strapped his telecaster on him and pushed him out on stage with a lit cigarette in his mouth and he came to life. lol

Two weeks ago a friend was telling me that a friend of his went to one of the shows on the "last" Stones tour. I laughed and said bull shit. There will never be a last!

Not a huge Stones fan but they have probably around a dozen songs that I really enjoy. Paint It Black and You Can't Always Get What You Want would be my tops.

Sly 02-02-2013 01:24 PM

I forgot Gimme Shelter.

Gimme Shelter is probably my favorite Rolling Stones song...

The Stones songs I play on guitar most these days are "Wild Horses" and "Angie" - when I used to play in bands, I played Honky Tonk Woman and Jumping Jack Flash, literally hundreds (if not thousands) of times.

I'm glad they are still performing. Some legendary songs. Even if they did drop kick Brian and Taylor left...I still liked them.

I want to see the last concert in NY in Dec with my partner in Crime Myjah ! and we had an amazing night

The show was SUPER good (at 800$ per tix we expect that :) )

Anyway, the real fans will tell you taht they play much better than 5-10-15 years ago.. they are more sober and serious and they pratice ! lol

This tour is great, all the best songs, lot of talking by jagger, old pics etc.,,, great night garanteed

And also the sound was amazing, best guitar sound ive heard in my life in an arena concert,,, i was at the opposite of the stage, in the corner, quite high, and it seem like K Richard amp was 5 feet away from me... crazy stuff
