whatever, tips should never be mandatory. If it's mandatory call it a 'service charge'. If you call it a tip, don't whine if you don't get anything.

Add the price to on the menu in the first place , dont sneak 18% on there.

As i said before the tipping culture in the US is totally ridiculous.

Just pay your waiters like you pay any other working person and leave it up to the customer if they want to tip something or not.

The amount of money i spent when i was in the US on tipping was insane.
The amount of money some of these waiters make is ridiculous. Also in clubs and bars...it's just stupid. I paid more on tips than i pay here on a meal.

Being that it isn't voluntary maybe change the word "TIP" on the reciept to "SERVICE CHARGE".

As for which race tips less or more, I can tell you from experience that it doesn't matter the race. Some people are cheap and some are generous. For me the worst tippers were famous people, mostly musicians. The best tippers are almost always those who work or have worked in a tipped position.

if people don't believe in tipping then they shouldn't go to places where tipping is expected. its pretty simple. and unless you were around 100-300 years ago, what happened then has nothing to do with anyone alive today.

Every other customer has no problems to follow customary tradition of tipping. Of course you have to be different and cheap about it and use God as an excuse.

I used to bartend and can tell you that assholes come in all flavors. I had black customers that tipped and those that didn't. Just as I had white customers who would tip and those who didn't.

Now, would I bartend in an establishment with a predominantly black clientele? Hell no! Way too many (especially the women) seemed to think that their every little need took precedence over anything else, and if you weren't johnny-on-the-spot at any given moment that was sufficient excuse not to tip.

Some gay men could likewise be prima donnas, but they seemed to know full well just how difficult they were being and would remunerate accordingly. As a rule, gay men are the best tippers (insert pun here). Of course, I'm good looking and in good shape, and not some homophobe that is afraid the gay will rub off on them, so that possibly had something to do with it.

It sounds to me like the 'pastor' in question was just looking for a reason to not tip - and using tithing as her preferred excuse is disgraceful. Tithing is 10% of your income, this was 18% of the cost of the meal. That's a substantial difference. Plus, I assume she tithes to the church she started. Since your tithe is tax-deductible, and church income is non-taxable, by essentially tithing to herself she is coming out ahead.

Its not sneaky its common knowledge that a group of 6 or more has the tip added. Imagine you are the waiter/waitress working on minimum wage and relying on the tips for $. You wait on 6 people for like 2 hours and don't get a tip. Fucking ridiculous.
