Cloud hosting - How safe is your data from snooping law enforcement?

Not very according to this....

"The fibre-optic cable that carries the data is split and a miniature supercomputer scans all the data in real-time with any material of possible interest being instantly copied to the NSA [National Security Agency]," said Mr Bowden.

Why would I care if the intelligence agencies sees my data? I have nothing to hide from them.

I have to admit I am generally of the same opinion - I always find it funny when people get freaked out because Google know what color socks they buy.

It wont be of concern to lots of us, but companies are storing lots of data in the cloud including financials etc that they would not want the US government to know about.

Would let them search your house without a warrant?

:2 cents:

If they are snooping the fibe optic cable. It wouldnt matter if ita cloud hosting or shared hostig or desicated hosting. They all go over fiber sooner or later.

This just makes no technical sense. Every piece of data at this point pretty much will hit fiber.

I have to admit, that's what struck me as well.

I think what they are saying is that now they are legally able to hit certain types of data and use it against you.

Remember the US extradition treaty's are normally pretty one sided.
