Toyota GT86

Anyone got one, driven one or thinking about getting one?

John-ACWM 01-27-2013 09:38 AM

Interesting looking car but it is inevitable not to think of Porsche and Nissan.

I see it too. It looks like a poor man's version of the Nissan GTR with a bit of 1996 Supra flared side body.

The GT86 and the Subaru version BRZ, looks like an extremely fun little sports car. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of these.

In car terms it's like the miata, only not gay.

I'm too tall to fit in a Miata. I hear they're fun, great handling cars, with really silky 6-speed trannys. Well built and reliable, too, with good MPG. I'd prolly own one if I could fit in the little fuckers.

I will test a BRZ or FR-S in the Spring, tho. :thumbsup

I think it could do with a tad more power but its getting rave reviews by the motoring press.

unless you live in germany... why would you need more power to drive like 100 km/h?

it has 200 hp and does 226 km/h - for only 30k ? - i think that is exactly what this car is about.

when you need more power buy a Cayman and pay twice as much

My gf drives my IQ... is it the same? :1orglaugh

It's a perfect little fun car to drift around the corners.

Choopa Phil 01-28-2013 12:40 PM

Put a turbo 4 in it and you have a winner. That cars styling looks great but its lacking in the HP department

FlowerKid 01-28-2013 11:03 PM

For drifting a turbo isn't needed.

I've read really good reviews, but it seems like its a bit underpowered. If it had around 300hp i'd probably go test-drive one and consider buying it. With 200hp it just seems like it would have all the negatives of RWD (like problems on snow) but not enough power to have a proportionate amount of fun to the problems.
