Dog Owners

List your current dog(s) breed, and the breed you would get next.

Curious if you would stick with the same or go another route ;)

I got a pug/jack russell.

I would want to get either a pomeranian, french bulldog or corgy.

:thumbsup

L-Pink 01-21-2013 09:02 AM

100% mutt.

Don't plan to get another when she is gone. But then I didn't plan on getting this one, she was found along a highway living by a gas station dumpster.

Ross 01-21-2013 09:04 AM

Golden Labrador who is almost 9 years old, still acts like a puppy. My Fiancee wants either a French Bulldog or some fancy ass mix we saw in LA one time, I forget what it is but it was pretty tiny and cute. I'd prefer to keep getting Labradors, mine is the most loyal dog ever and kind to everything it comes across.

German shepherd/husky mix, got her from the pound when she was 6 months, she is 5 years now. I would never get another dog with husky blood, too much hair.

Yep, not exactly cheap which is why I'm trying to talk her out of it lol. If she wants it and is 100% sure then we will get it but it's a lot of money for a dog. I'd rather have 2 labs.

Grapesoda 01-21-2013 09:22 AM

American Pit Bull Terrier. I love him to death but don't think I'll be getting any other dogs after this.

He's only 3, hopefully he lives for another 15+ years. :thumbsup

I have a black lab. She's sleeping under my desk right now. Great dog, lots of fun. Must be about nine or ten years old now.

My next dog will be a German Shepard.

Sarah_Jayne 01-21-2013 10:10 AM

I miss my pug and spaniel very much. If my heart can ever take having another dog, it will have to be a pug again.

trevesty 01-21-2013 10:21 AM

I have two German Shepherds. The only other breed I'd consider getting would be a lab(from working English lines) or a French Mastiff.

Me cooking some steaks with my male watching(nearly 3 years old, he's got half American show lines and half German working lines in him)..

My 14 month old female whose litter mate we just sold to the US Border Patrol. She's got some of the best working German lines in the world in her. :thumbsup

We've got a Husky/Akita mix that I absolutely adore. She's a great dog, short hair and doesn't shed too much. We rescued her from a shelter. I think that's most of the reason she's such a great dog.

My wife wanted a puppy two years ago, so I got her a Siberian Husky puppy. He's been friggen hell. Long hair and never stops shedding, has torn up our living room carpet in two huge spots, tore up a metal crate, chewed up TONS of our daughters toys and other things around, etc etc. He still pisses in the house when he gets mad. Just got into something the other night and had seizures. $430 vet bill there. He has severe separation anxiety too.

Wife never wants another husky but loves her momma's boy. I wouldn't mind one if we kept it to one AND it was a bit more well behaved. Either way, I think we're going to go for a lab or retriever if we ever get another dog. Won't be for a very long time though.

Here's are pups. Top is the mixed akita/husky girl, bottom is obviously the siberian bad boy.

yeah.. they can be expensive, I think ours was about $2500. We got him from a breeder in Guelph. No papers, but I guess we lucked out and got none of the problems normally associated with a Brachycephalic dog. He's great in all but the hottest of summer days, and on those days we just keep his exercise level to a minimum. To be fair, since he was a puppy we've had him out on the farm running around, so conditioning may be a factor.

One other thing that we elected not to do is neuter, not because we want to breed, but rather the Brachy dogs don't do well under anesthesia, and we didn't want to risk it. He's not taken anywhere where that might be a problem and when off the farm, he is always leashed.

We used to have Australian Shepherds (probably the dog I would go back to after the Frenchie) and a Doberman (awesome dog, but really tough to take anywhere) I wasn't sold on the Frenchie when the wife told me she wanted to get one. I've never been one for small dogs, but I gotta say, the Frenchie is anything but a small dog.. he wears the same collar as the Dobe did only one hole bigger, and they are tough little shits. Whats nice is that they have a shit tonne of energy, but when its time to tone it down, they are fine with that too. Only caveat I can think of.. is the Snoring.. but if you can live with that.. you're golden

PR_Glen 01-21-2013 11:22 AM

we have 2 pure bred yellow labs, one is 11 almost 12 more bred for the field, the other is 8 and is a ukc and canadian champion. We also have a curly coated retriever who is about a year and a half. She is fast as a greyhound and strong as a pittbull.. unreal what this dog can do. Too bad athleticism has little to do with judging at shows hehe

seems a little steep honestly, talk with Melissa, she can find you a good breeder either way.

I have a weiner dog. The little shit is funny as hell with the shit he does. Plus working in about I figured weiner dog would fit. He loves to goose the girls when they bend down. I swear one about hit her head on the fan from jumping so high after getting a wet nose in the pooper haha

He's real gentle... Always babying smaller animals and loves laying next to my step-nephew while he sleeps.

He's very beautiful too:

Staffordshire Bull Terrier - great with people, pain in the arse around other dogs. Wouldn't get another dog with very short fur she gets cold too easily.

HammerALL 01-21-2013 01:58 PM

Recently got my second Rottweiler after my first one passed away after 11 years. He's 10 months now but here's a puppy pic of him

http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...8/brucegfy.jpg

I had a German Sheppard before but Rotties are definitely my breed now. Love their personalities.

bronco67 01-21-2013 02:16 PM

Chocolate Labrador -- but I might do yellow next time...and he'll be a rescue hopefully. It wouldn't bother me if its was a Lab/Shepard mix.

Imortyl Pussycat 01-21-2013 02:21 PM

i have a chihuahua/terrier mix and it's her birthday today :) she's the best and got turkey breast to celebrate. i got my daughter a pom for xmas and the little bastard took a shit in my hair while i slept night before last. he is seriously psychotic and i cannot recommend that bread, everyone knows they are pains in the ass. that said, he looks like a 2lb little bear and its hard to get mad at him for anything....even taking a dump in my hair :disgust

Roald 01-21-2013 02:25 PM

Got a black lab for 9 years now. Would get a lab again or a boxer.

He is doing okay, I think he is getting arthritis as the cold weather bothers him first thing in the morning. He is looking forward to returning to The Phoenix Forum in April. Of course, he is always up for a road trip of any duration.

The fuckin' food bill is a nightmare now that they have cleaned out all the cats, squirrels, rabbits and small children in the neighborhood!
