I've never been a programmer, but i started taking the online course from Stanford.
 

For database management anyway.

It is free, and so far isn't very complicated. Is anyone else signed up?

I am going to take a bunch of these courses to help me when speaking to our programmers.

but you can sign up for their others.

iTunes U has LOADS AND LOADS of free edu content too.
