Should be interesting to see the responses in this thread. I've got so many different platforms I just use the cloud version.

Xero is the best solution.

Quickbooks and MYOB etc are dinosaurs in comparison.

Dead 01-15-2013 07:32 PM

Curios as well...looking into Xero

Thanks for the response, I'm reviewing the product features right now.

What do you like best about XERO?

epitome 01-15-2013 08:28 PM

I use 2011 and don't need updates because I run payroll through PayCycle (which Intuit bought last year... but I was using before then).

Automatic bank and Paypal feeds, the ability for my accountant to work on it live from his office without having to share a data file with him, being able to do online invoicing, simple tax preparation, easy payroll, excellent reporting, it's just a great product.

Many banks offer Quicken integration...

Link Quicken with your business bank account, and a lot of the tax, payroll, A/R, and A/P work, gets done automatically for you as you use conduct business, plus it enables you to analyze your business better.

QB version 2010.. works fine for me.. but I still hate that shit and every minute I spend on it (only 1.5 hours a month)

Webmaster Advertising 01-15-2013 09:12 PM

We don't, that's what we pay our accountant to do for us.

maybe but my accountant uses QB... he goes over my books every few moths, messes around with stuff, then tells what I need to do to make life easer. right now he has the books doing my 1099's and this all by internet and ftp. if that's dinosaur it's good enough for me :2 cents:

I actually want my books isolated from the net. QB might or might not do that however I have no interest in that at all.

fitzmulti 01-15-2013 09:30 PM

QB version 2010 still, but I hardly use it, aside from creating invoices.

Depends on how many of our companies he works the taxes for, we've actually known him a long time so we get a break on the cost, usually throw him around $1k and he'll do all 6 companies for us.

We also use him for other finance related business projects too which is why we get such a good rate with him.

sandman! 01-15-2013 10:39 PM

Cause they have 85% small bus. market share

arock10 01-16-2013 07:03 AM

2012, pretty much just upgrade whenever they stop supporting a version

Their yearly payroll fee I find uncomfortably high for what I use it for

RubyGoodnight 01-16-2013 07:16 AM

If you don't do a payroll, would you still suggest accounting software? I'm going it all by hand via excel and it's getting a bit tough to keep on top of.

tony286 01-16-2013 07:21 AM

its old I think its qb pro 2000 or 2001. lol Its works for what we need.

Phoenix 01-16-2013 08:56 AM

how do you have a choice? you need to buy the new version every year to get the right tax tables

BIGTYMER 01-16-2013 09:10 AM

The reviews on 2013 are horrible. The cloud based shit.
