So many threads here and on other forums of people being unhappy with Windows 8.

It's enough to keep me from upgrading anytime soon. I'm pretty happy with Win7 Ultimate 64bit.

Yeah xp was a lot nicer then this stupid ass windows 8 shit , computer seems faster for some reason but freezes up and you have to do like 3-4 steps to where you with xp do one :disgust

Press your Windows Key on the keyboard. Poof, there's your desktop :)

Really, it's the just that easy to toggle in and out of the Metro interface (which is basically the start button menu now). Add whatever programs you want to your desktop and launch from there.

I'm fine with Win7 and not going to upgrade anytime soon :pimp

windows 8 is fine...

metro + aero + desktop pc or non touch laptop is the problem.

The solution is easy though... Classic Shell (look it up on sourceforge)

Bypass metro altogether, and don't look back.

i just installed windows 8 64 bit on a new machine
it runs well but i also cant get used to the damn layout and switching screens etc.
guess they are really trying to target the android type market. gonna take time get used to.
on the flip side, you can view AVCHD video files without any hangups and great tools for jpegs and rotate etc.

I hated windows 8 for about an hour and then found how to boot strait to desktop and that solved the whole metro boot problem for me and Im now used to the new laptop and actually like windows 8 :)

I just want file manager to open when I start windows. I hate wading through layers of mystery meat and frosting to get to the cake.

Just show me a list of my files so I can click on them and get my work done.

Microsoft works like this way:
WIndows 95 Sucks,
Windows 98 Good,
Windows ME Sucks
Windows XP Good
Windows Vista Sucks
Windows 7 Good
Guess what? Windows 8 SUCKS LOL

Its just how is M$ biz

I had Win8 for 2 weeks and I had to go back to Win7 because graphics driver keeps shutting down all the time. But I did noticed that my computer was a bit faster than with Win7

Windows 8 boots really fast. and seems to run pretty smooth. I have it installed on one of my computers I use for browsing etc. and it's not bad when you get used to it. That said, I'm still not ready to switch my main computer I do all of my work on.

I still like Windows 7 better.
