Forwarded domain names appearing in Google?
 

Do any of you folks have multiple domain names which are forwarded to your main sites?

If so, have you ever seen your forwarded domain name show up in a Google search?

I have been noticing lately that many of my forwarded domains are appearing in Google instead of or in addition to my main domain name for quite a few sites. I never knew things worked like that, anyone know if this is something new, or has it always worked like this?

In my stats I have been noticing this which is what brought it to my attention, only this last week have I seen it becoming more apparent.

I have some mainstream sites that do this but I have no clue as how that works... interested to hear from someone in the know.

I dont know either.

I do notice that especially for exact searches that match the forwarded domain it seems to choose the forwarded domain instead of the main one.

For example, if my main site is weirdpussy.com and I have reallyweirdpussy.com, if someone does a search for 'really weird pussy' then Google seems to take that exact search and choose my forwarded domain. (I don't have either of these domains)

I always thought that forwarded domains were not taken into consideration with G at all.

I have a lot of slogan type domains which are forwarded to my main sites and am noticing a lot more traffic lately, especially with the exact search match.

this happens to me with a site where the domain name is hyphenated. later I was able to buy the domain name sans hyphen and use it as a redirect. I use the non-hyphenated "name" in the meta and title to the site. so I'm not sure if Google is picking that up or ignoring the hyphen in some canonical way.

I always thought that Google, and other SE's, ignored forwarded domains since they basically have 'no content'.

is it a lot of time you can see this thing ? It's possible google need some time to update the correct information for your site.

Usually i can see for some weeks this thing, then i'll see in the search the main site
