Are there any changes when it comes to security between version 3.4.2 and 3.5 ? I'm not sure if i like the new "add media".

dont think any security was done, those are minor releases like 3.1 etc. 3.5 was all addons or improvements.

I've not noticed anything, other than minor improvements, as noted above.

I got a security note and recommendation to upgrade, so I did.

What "security note" you are referring to?

3.5 media sucks ass badly.. its slow, cumbersome and a joke :(

I find it occasionally locks up randomly after the media is uploaded across several installs, lovely
