Sean Hannity lost half his TV audience after the election

Quote:

New York Daily News: "In a fitting coda to 2012, we've learned that the ratings for rock-ribbed conservative Sean Hannity cratered after Barack Obama won his second term, with viewers tuning out the Fox News Channel talk-show host in droves."

"According to Nielsen numbers, Hannity lost around half of his audience in the weeks after the election, while his Fox News colleague Bill O'Reilly -- who steadfastly refuses to identify himself politically as a conservative -- retained around 70% of his audience."

Conservative mouthpiece Sean Hannity lost about half of his TV audience in the weeks after the election while his colleague Bill O?Reily?s viewership only dropped by about a third, the Daily News reported:

The Daily News:

So what happened to Hannity?

The going wisdom is that viewers who basked in his preelection anti-Obama rhetoric tuned him out when they were stunned to wake up on Nov. 7 and discover that the President had won a second term ? a scenario that Hannity had all but promised could never happen.

Before the election, Hannity was riding high in the ratings and topped thought leaders on the right, like Dick Morris, Ann Coulter, Peggy Noonan and talk radio bulldog Mark Levin, who predicted Obama would lose in a landslide.

Hannity performed even worse in the ?money-demo? of viewers aged 25-54. More than half of them deserted his show.

Following a Presidential election, not surprising.

Barefootsies - I love the quote in your sig & use it all the time!

Wonder how many folks know where that whole line comes from :winkwink:

Robbie 01-01-2013 06:15 PM

Hmmm.. Here are the actual numbers:

Wednesday Nov. 7th (day after the election...Hannity was number one in his time slot)
Net 9PM P2+ (000s) 25-54 (000s) 35-64 (000s)
FNC Hannity 3,006 723 1,090
CNN Piers Morgan Tonight 1,120 403 568
MSNBC Rachel Maddow Show 2,636 918 1,383
CNBC MEXICOS DRUG WAR 201 123 113
HLN Dr. Drew ON CALL 349 99 192

Friday Nov. 9th (Hannity still number one in his time slot)

Net 9PM P2+ (000s) 25-54 (000s) 35-64 (000s)
FNC Hannity 2,042 334 632
CNN Piers Morgan Tonight 745 132 275
MSNBC Rachel Maddow Show 1,612 468 769
CNBC CRIME INC: COUNTERFEIT 205 81 120
HLN WEEKEND MYSTERIES 368 152 207

Looks to me like ALL the shows had a huge audience right before the election...and then after the election they ALL dropped huge percentages.
But Hannity is still number one in his time slot. And FNC is still the number one News Channel overall as well.

Check it out day by day for yourself: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/tag/hannity-ratings/ instead of reading some person with an agenda trying to twist stuff to fit their world view.

He's a shitskid. Still waiting for him to be waterboarded. The big phony pussy.

Clearly there's no agenda there.

Robbie 01-01-2013 08:49 PM

I'm just saying that the person who wrote that about Hannity's ratings was twisting the facts to make it seem like Hannity had lost his audience because he was against Obama.

That was his agenda.

It's not the truth. The truth is that far more people tuned in to ALL the news programs for election coverage. Then ALL the news shows lost a huge chunk of that audience once the election was over.

Understand what I'm saying? You can spin shit to look any way you want.

I could post up a story called: "Walmart Loses Half Their Customers After Christmas"
It would sort of be "true", but not reality.

I think you are talking politics...while I'm pointing out that the person who wrote that article has an agenda (anti-Hannity) and is trying to spin stuff to paint a picture that isn't true IF you look at that link I gave that shows the ratings for all the news channels. :)

in my opinion, hannity lost half his audience because he shifted his position on immigration. As most of his viewers are throbbing racists, the moment he said amnesty is not such a bad idea, he went over the racial cliff.

I kinda expected as much.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

fair is fair - Robbie's point is valid. While Hannity did lose half his pre-election audience, all political programs lost audience numbers. Hannity's numbers are now back where they were before the election run up period. He didn't lose his core audience. His numbers increased more than any other program's did so it's no surprise his decrease was more than others.

Gozarian 01-02-2013 04:32 AM

some people never let facts get in the way of their storyline :))

davecummings 01-02-2013 10:29 AM

I hate the way he interrupts his guests constantly, and then touts HIS opinions--so rude, especially when he constantly repeats and pushes HIS opinions! I wish he'd STFU and let us hear what his program guest say/think/feel :-(

slapass 01-02-2013 10:36 AM

Is anyone else sick of the fact that we have to look at all news to see if it is real "news" or propaganda? I see this as a pain in the ass. Good catch Robbie but sucks you had to do it.

Fox News is a giant circle jerk. You could say the same thing about MSNBC, but at least on that network they have some actual in-depth political discussion, instead of constant fear and hate mongering by mental midgets like Hannity and O ' Reilly. Those guys are practically retarded compared to someone like Rachel Maddow or Lawrence O'Donell.

If I watch 2 minutes of Hannity, I can't believe the shit that comes out of his mouth.

LAJ 01-02-2013 11:09 AM

Regardless of how much audience he lost... I consider it a victory anytime that P.O.S. loses anything.

Taking a wild guess... is it from that "Rising Sun" movie with Wesley Snipes and Sean Connery?

Exactly. This is a total non story. He was #1 before. Running up to the election, all political shows went up in viewership. After the elections, all numbers went down, and now he is back at number one with the same numbers.

I can't believe anyone goes for this kind of party hack reporting....
