Apple Sucks

One thing I hate, I bought a bunch of old apps on my old pc, when I had to get a new one, I lost all the data, so When I went to go and get the app again, it says I have to purchase them again, I wouldnt mind if it was 1 or 2 apps.

But I had about 30+ apps I had bought, some of them were $10, one was even pretty pricy the logmeinto which is $129.99.

I guess no way around this other than saving the data?

CurrentlySober 12-28-2012 10:41 AM

i kunt A4D an apple... :(

bloggerz 12-28-2012 10:44 AM

It should be saved in your cloud storage and can be accessed through apples website

Phoenix 12-28-2012 10:49 AM

i hate apple...we develop some stuff in mainstream for people and anytime the word apple comes up i cringe...costs more money...and takes more time to develop

Choopa Phil 12-28-2012 10:50 AM

You shouldnt have to rebuy all your paid or free apps. At least i didnt.

edgeprod 12-28-2012 10:51 AM

Wait, what? Purchases made through the App Store persist across all of your computers, when using the same Apple ID. All of the apps I've purchased, since the advent of the App Store, are available to me to be re-downloaded at any time on any computer .. even apps that are $200+.

You can redownload Mac apps up to five times on five devices with the same ID. Just like you can share iTunes songs, books, apps, etc with up to five devices. If you had to repurchase all of it, it's cause you're an idiot and didn't bother to take time to read or ask for help from Apple doesn't suck, you're just stupid.

fris 12-28-2012 01:04 PM

thanks just finished downloading all apps, never done it before ;)

im a n00b when it comes to apple devices

What are you basing the conclusion that they are "junk" on?

I beg to differ. I have never had even a 10th as many problems with my Mac as I had with any Windows OR Linux based computer I have had.

If you feel paying "over priced" prices is a waste, that's your problem. But just like paying $150,000 for a maximum $80,000 car is overpriced too, but people justify it.

Most people I know like Apple computers because of how easy it is to use and just do shit without having to tinker and customize.

Buy what you want but don't discredit something because you feel it's over priced and junk.

I'm not saying it's the case here, but it's a common thing to come out of the mouth of people who can't afford them, and that's even more annoying. It's like a bum in the street saying the new Lamborghini is overpriced; i.e., completely irrelevant.

I always interpreted it that way too. "I can build a PC with better graphics blah blah blah for that price!" Congratulations, still not a Mac. I bought a Mac because I wanted a Mac.

Exactly, if something satisfy your needs use it. Just don't go the road where you tell everybody how mac is great or pc is great or whatever what is good for one doesn't mean it fits for another person.

Yup, I'm always getting attacked as being an Apple fanboi, but to be honest, they do things how I like them. I was a Windows user for 10 years, then Linux for 2... Now I'm a Mac user, I prefer it's simplistic easy to use interfaces over over complicated heavily customizable stuff... It just gets out of the way and lets me work.

Use whatever you want to use, but don't go around saying someone else's choice is shitty or start acting like an immature troll because they feel paying $1700 for a computer is worth their needs, when you "can get the same computer for $700"

edgeprod 12-28-2012 02:38 PM

That's exactly how I feel. I have a Linux laptop, but I use my Macbook Pro (laptop) and Mac Pro (desktop) MUCH more, due to the way the workflow is handled. I have a native install of Apache, MySQL, and PHP on the Mac (*nix base), and can drop to a terminal at any time with just a click.

Doesn't mean I *won't* use my Linux laptop, it's just not as great of an environment for development for my purposes.

Last Windows I used was Vista (and barely), but at the time, it just wasn't suiting my needs, was constantly requiring updates and reboots, etc.

You sounds like a user from the 80s. This is so not the case anymore.

Example: Sulfer Springs elementary here in Santa Clarita that switched from PC (Dells running Windows XP) to All apple servers and iMacs and was able to get rid of 2 of the 3 IT guys they had on staff and the one left says that since switching over to all Mac, he spends 3-4 hours per day on average working on the several hundred computers they have to maintain now.

Doesn't sound like junk to me and saves 100k in payroll yearly.

Apple products have always been superior to all other products on the market. Only time will tell if that will continue to be the case now that Steve Jobs is gone.

I love Apple Products. I would never buy an Apple computer though. They are completely over rated in my opinion.

I have a beat of a PC that I paid practically nothing for and it will last me 10+ years. Apples have a tendency not to have a long life span. If anyone had a 15 inch Macbook Air around the 2005-06 era. You cannot tell me that your battery did not fall apart. I know 30 people that this happened to. This has never happened to any Dell machine that I have owned. And Dell sucks.

I baught my wife a iPad mini for the holidays. She went to plug it in to her iMac today and it says she has to upgrade the iTunes. Whe she downloaded the iTunes it says she has to upgrade her operating system. The disk is 20 bucks and you have to upgrade an operating system. I am sorry. But this is extortion and it does not exist in the world of Microsoft. The only reason you pay for upgrades in Microsoft is for better performance and more options. Not to use a new piece of hardware that is made by the same manufacturer.

I have an iPad, iPhone, 2 Airport Express', Apple TV, my wife's iPad mini and her iphone all sync'd up around the house. It is amazing and there are no better wireless routers then Apples. I tried the top of the line Cisco 3500 or whatever it was for 200 bucks and it would not go through my walls. I baught 2 of these express joints for 100 a piece. Put one in living room, 1 in bedroom. Syncronized them in about 30 seconds flat and I finally have WiFi in my bedroom. I have tried every wifi router on the planet and could not get it to work with 1.

I was the biggest anti apple hipster hater prior to my iPad and iPhone and was a blackberry junkie. I am now hooked on Apple and would not use anything else for mobile devices.

Would still never buy a computer.

This is because there is probably only 1 guy in town that works on apples.

The fact that this is not more cost effective and completely anti security on a network is an understatement.

I can send you an ROI calculation if you would like. In real world business no one uses macs on a network.

I sell networking solutions b2b to SMB and mis tier market including educational institutions and pretty much you would be laughed out of the room

Actually there are many Mac network engineers in Los Angeles. Many school systems have converted partially or fully especially for desktops, laptops and to ipads for students and educators.

The fact is that they require less maintenance and are much less prone to viruses, spyware, malware and don't need to be replaced or upgraded as often. The same hold true in our NETbilling offices.

In "real world" business these days it is common to find networks running multiple platforms, maybe just not on the jobs that you take.

Updates are free on just about everything, except the operating system. The last major update to the Mac OS was last year, and it cost only $20, vs Windows which was $150 for the crappy OEM version.

That is exactly reason why buying Mac is completely unnecessary -since they share completely same hardware infrastructure, yet pc version cost like 3x time less.

My ex-wife used to call asking me to fix her computers at least 3 times a month. I purchased a MacMini to replace her PC and gave her my MacBook Pro when I upgraded. This was several years ago. I've not had to fix her computers a single time since then. Macs are worth the extra money.

Unfortunately, the PC manufacturers aren't supported through Apple. AppleCare refuses to provide support on my Falcon Northwest PC (one of the biggest pieces of shit I've owned) for some reason. :1orglaugh

I guess you COULD buy a PC and load Hackintosh onto it, but I'd rather have the peace of mind that my Mac OS is running in a stable manner on the hardware it was designed for. The day I'm hard up for $3k every few years for a computer is the day I should really re-examine my life.
