CAN someone recommend a fan that LASTS longer than a few weeks?

I like having a fan running 24/7 and can't find one that will last more than a few fucking weeks to a couple months before it goes to shit. Any recommendations?

Thanks.

I've had a GE running 24/7 for nearly 10 years. It's oscillating and on a pole stand. That was like $40-$50 back then.

that sounds strange - i have a fan that must be 20 years old, i leave it on constantly in spring/summer and just keeps on going and going

Yes, I've gone through several Lasko, Honeywell, Brookstone and Holmes fans... they all start squealing after a few weeks and even if I oil them up they'll quit spinning soon after.

In all honesty the best fan I have ever bought is a cheap ass $20 fan. It is one of those with a stand that rotates. I have had it for about 7-8 years and it is on pretty much 24/7 during the summer. The motor that rotates it burned out this last summer but it still works great.

What the hell are you doing to the fans?

Are you oiling them before or after they go out? What kind of oil? What's in your air (shouldn't really matter anyway)?

Buy a DYSON

It's not a $20 fan ... but it will be the last fan you will ever need to buy! Trust me! :thumbsup

I've had 2 of these for the last 10 years. One of them I put in the barn, to keep the air flowing for when we bring the horses in at night. As the name says, its a commercial fan, puts out quite a bit of air, and has never squeaked despite being caked in dust at times. http://www.kaz-canada.com/kaz/produc...nd-fan-hv-181/ if you can find one, they are worth hunting down.

fans seem to last forever...must be something strange going on.
Perhaps the plug you are plugging them into is surging at times?

I've bought cheap fans in the past and they rarely make it through the summer. I think its the plastic parts that they use.
