Cam4 and Streamate same owner?

Can anyone confirm if they are competitors or are they owned by the same company? Clicked on a performer's page on Cam4 and it redirected to Steamate's site :winkwink: Don't know if it was a rogue popup or if they are just owned by the same company lol

Not the same company.

Thanks for clearing that up Killswitch. That's what I thought :thumbsup And Merry Christmas :)

It was just so strange because just a couple of minutes ago, again when I went to Cam4.ca site, when I clicked on a couple of performer's page, it popped up a separate Streamate page :1orglaugh. And a mini ad on the right side of the page asked me to join Cam4Premium.com and I thought it was Cam4's new premium site so I clicked on it and it took me to a Cam4Premium but it was a Streamate site :1orglaugh. Way to funny or weird to send traffic to your competitor's site :winkwink:

EliteWebmaster 12-23-2012 07:14 PM

And it's so bizarre, when you go to Cam4Premium.com which is obviously a Streamate site, on the top of the header, it asks you "go back to Cam4.com?" Once again, very odd if they are not affiliate with each other to send traffic to their main competitor's site :Oh crap

Probably just trying to drive traffic to their premium site which is a Streamate WL through the use of plugs. Certainly not a new method of moving traffic around.

Killswitch 12-23-2012 07:27 PM

Whitelabel. Like epitome said.

EliteWebmaster 12-23-2012 07:34 PM

That makes sense. I just found it strange initially when I saw it because I thought it was strange for Cam4 to be using a Streamate WL for their premium site. Wouldn't it make more sense to use their own Cam4 software?

Turns out Cam4 has a few WLs then with Streamate. Here's another one:

Cam4Ultimate.com which is running a streamate WL.

It may look strange, but streamate can pay the traffic more than what some smaller cam sites can earn themselves from same traffic. It is called scale economy.

However, it is true that most other cam sites do not allow to advertise cam sites; for example chaturbate had at its very start some visualsecrets plugs, to add streams as had too few, but then removed all the ads to third party cam sites. In fact a little later I asked chaturbate if they sold ads I wanted to buy for my cam site, and they said no, we don't advertise to 3rd party cam sites. But their site is full of dating and non-cam porn sites.

Not sure why you find it odd that cam4 would try and funnel traffic to their streamate white label and brand the 2 sites by linking together, basic marketing to try and maximize earnings on your traffic. The reason streamates info shows up in the whois is because they require control of your whitelabel domain and change the whois. They aren't really competing sites, one is a free amateur cam site with optional tips vs streamate's pay per view model with mostly pro camgirls.
