How To Stop A Puppy From Biting Other Dogs?

So we have 3 dogs and just got a new pit puppy from the pound a couple of weeks ago, everything has been fine up until the lat few days.

Basically, what is happening is, one of the other dogs will be passed the fuck out sleeping or walking through the rec room when the little one will just randomly run up to them and bite them on their leg, face, as, anywhere she can grab ahold.

Any idea how we can stop her doing this, she doesn't seem to be bothering the others too much with this but, at the same time, they are fully grown dog 4 or 5 times her size and, although they are extremely passive animals, I foresee the puppy biting one of them at the wrong time and them attacking, before it gets to that i want to nip this in the bud, any suggestions short of what we're already doing - thwacking her on the nose when we see her?

a muzzle ?

The adult dog should know how to discipline the puppy. The puppy will learn quickly. It shouldn't be an actual bite, more of a snap or snarl. They need to respect their elders. :)

Dont worry about it. The dogs will resolve the internal pack dicipline.

Give all the other dogs guns

sounds normal.. the other dogs are 'raising it'.. i'd say getting involved is the worst thing

I have myself 4 dogs. Last year, the newest puppy would do the exact same thing, and I was afraid that my Old English Sheep dog who was like 20 times her size would attack her so I just gave her a little spanking (well if I can call it a spanking lol) and told her "no" a couple of times, and it did the trick.

Good luck.

Not possible for Australian dogs as they would not be able to get it anywhere, they would have to jump a plane and head over seas.

ya,.. i agree with this.. ran into this issue a few times.. it seemed more like the puppy wanted to play, but the older dogs were not in the mood.. The older dogs would respond with a growl or a bite, and eventually the puppy learned to back off... (the older dogs biting the puppy was more like a disciplinary nip than an actual bite.... no skin was broken.. and this was German Shepard's disciplining a miniature pincher.. they knew enough to not be too rough)..

Use a Tazer on the dog every time he bites

Give the adult dog a gun.

Let the pack sort out the pecking order.
