Email Validity Checker
Any suggestion for a good email checker? Our sales guys are calling businesses to send them information, but we noticed a few are wrong, either bad misspelling or wrong domain name, so looking to have at least a system we can run emails through, even better would be an API that we can plug right into and check right away so if they get the wrong one, they can correct it instead of calling back... which they don't like doing

I spoke to a couple main stream programs awhile back about this. They have real time api's and also batch methods. They charge monthly and the price was a little steep.
Emailpie.. seems like standard validity checks except for mx records - I have heard some people say yes on this and some say no. |
No API available but here's another option you can check out...

It's relatively pointless to pre check them because of catch alls (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catch-all). With that in mind your best bet is to mail them and collect bounces alongside what your mailer says is bad.

At the end of the day you are going to have to process bounces to accurately verify lists, and that involves emailing them. The concept of cleaning lists by any other way than sending to them, as is implied here, is flawed. The mailer will tell you which domains are bad and the bounces will tell you which accounts are undeliverable. That's how you get comprehensive validity.
To your point of limited resources Damian that just goes hand in hand with the unpreparedness of any lists. 100% valid lists will not make up for a shortage of ips. |
http://www.briteverify.com/ - quite a few lead guys use this. Even seen it on fling.com and other adult landing pages.
