Another AR-15 jam foils mass shooter

James Holmes had an AR-15 jam that stopped him early.

So did this latest kid.

"Many people have asked me why there were so few victims during this incident," said Sheriff Roberts. He listed the fact that Mr. Roberts's AR-15 semiautomatic rifle intermittently jammed
Amusingly it was turned into a kind of advert for AR-15s.

I dunno, it seems to jam too consistently.

AllAboutCams 12-12-2012 06:44 PM

Why do they jam so much

Fat Panda 12-12-2012 06:51 PM

my ar-15's have never had a problem... if i did experience a stovepipe i could clear it in a second or so.

sandman! 12-12-2012 06:52 PM

lucky he did not have a AK :)

Fortunately the people who tend to shoot up shopping malls also tend not to be bright masterminds or skilled gunsmiths.

JP-pornshooter 12-12-2012 06:55 PM

AK-47 is known to be the most trouble free weapon of modern times...

Not keeping it clean, using poor quality magazines, or not loading the magazine properly are the main reasons.

They are really good rifles, but you have to take care of them. Take care of them, they will take care of you.

Any of the newer rifles with the M4 loading ramps machined into the chamber will be pretty much jam-free when taken care of properly.

make sure you clean your gun :2 cents: 2 is still too many :helpme he didnt even know them :Oh crap

"These AR-15 after-market extended magazines have a tendency to jam," the source said.

I heard it was a stolen weapon, so he probably did not have a lot of experience with it.

Most AR-15/M-16 jams are due to dirty firearms or are ammuntion related.

Any weapon which needs a forward assist has inherent problems though.

They have to be cleaned after each OP and they run best wet with lots of lube.

All semi-auto guns can jam...my experience

- AR15s jam less than people think

- AK-47's jam more than people think.

Let's just be thankful that he was a boob with that gun or it could have been ugly, ugly, ugly.

Elli 12-13-2012 11:43 AM

Maybe they should print a spare to carry?

JP-pornshooter 12-13-2012 01:29 PM

excerpt from the book "The Gun" (the story on the most widely used gun ever)
At a secret arms-design contest in Stalin’s Soviet Union, army technicians submitted a stubby rifle with a curved magazine. Dubbed the AK-47, it was selected as the Eastern Bloc’s standard arm. Scoffed at in the Pentagon as crude and unimpressive, it was in fact a breakthrough—a compact automatic that could be mastered by almost anyone, last decades in the field, and would rarely jam. Manufactured by tens of millions in planned economies, it became first an instrument of repression and then the most lethal weapon of the Cold War.

I had a CAR 15(now the M4) back in the late 80's, and it never jammed.

I thought that issue had been fixed after all the jams during Vietnam. I think the forward assist is on the rifle just because it was known to get rounds stuck during a bolt cycle.

What I want to know is what's with all these Asian guys doing most of the shooting rampages in the past few years. When I saw the picture of the shooter this morning, I said "not another one".

I have an FN SCAR-L (.223...should have bought the .308). Doesn't jam, accurate, and a beast. When the zombie invade, they'll have no chance.

Not to fight someone else's battles, but.......

spelling nazi

In essence, in a chatroom context, a person who insists on rectifying the spelling errors of anyone by rephrasing the said line accordingly. To remain faithful to their cause, they must invariably make no spelling mistakes whatsoever of their own, otherwise he/she is engaging in hypocrisy, in turn, looking like an oblivious dumbass. Further, they justify their cause by asserting that the victims' spelling is "impossible" to read.

What the prick fails to realise is how needless his/her cause really is, seeing as he/she is perfectly capable of construing the sentence containing the spelling errors sufficiently to be able to rephrase it suitably. Ultimately, he/she incurs embarrassment and looks like a total douchebag, as a result.

I spent a good portion of my adult life as a soldier, and I have a very different opinion of this than you do. And for probably very different reasons.

No he's right, too many fucktards have been using it lately.. I have wondered whether it was a "thing" or simple ignorance, far be it from me to not let someone make themselves look like an idiot, but now we've got all meta about it....
