And they happen to bang their brains out and promise to stay in touch.

Picking up women begins with the understanding that women like sex as much, if not more than guys, there is just different rules, stigmas etc they have to fight through, namely personal guilt and fear of being judged. Girls on vacation don't have to worry about being judged, except by those they are with. Those girls who are together, usually end up doing the same thing together (i mean having sex with random guys on vacation) because neither worries about being judged.
The promise to stay in touch is just a fake agreement, understood by both - serving only to alleviate some of her guilt of screwing someone right after meeting them. The girls did not have sex because they thought they found "the one". They sometimes just need to act that way/talk that way and keep up that charade to deal with the stigma attached to having sex too quickly.
