WL Question

I just joined an affiliate WL but they are asking me to change the Registrant Info of my domain to their company name and address. They said it has to be this way for the life of the white label.

They are a well known company but I have to be honest, I'm a little nervous that they want the registrant info of my domain to be in their company name and address. Not suggesting they would do anything malicious but with how alot of otherwise trustworthy affiliate companies taking off with people's money in recent years, the thought did cross my mind that some companies might just transfer/steal a domain name with the registrant info in their name. Again, not saying this WL company would do this sort of thing. I just thought I would do my due diligence and get your guy's opinion on the subject. What do you guys think?

Have anyone else done this for their WL site? :)

_Richard_ 12-06-2012 03:09 PM

is it in their terms and conditions?

I read it and no it's not in their terms and conditions. But they did state:

XXXXXXXXX reserves the exclusive right to change and/or amend the aforementioned terms and conditions at any time and without notice.

As mentioned, they are a well known company. I would rather not mention the site name because I don't want to come across like I am bad mouthing them in any way. :)

Yep.. Did it to get mine w/ them. I guess they could pull some sorta dick move but I don't see it and I have enough of a paper trail that says I was not selling or giving it to them. Also I am listed as tech and other contacts still.

Yes I have one.

theyre doing the billing for you, so a lot of times their processing company will require that all their WL sites' domains are registered under the same company that the processing account was opened with.

When did you get your WL with them? I did some research but there are quite a few WL's on their network that doesn't have the registrant info in their company name/address. I am curious if it's a new policy to have their address and company name in the registrant of the domain.

Like you, I don't think they would do something like stealing a domain but curious why some WL's have their own owner's info in the Registrant Info for the domain. :)

Oh ok, that makes sense now why they want the registrant info in their company name. I was just very curious about it as the other WL's I am with didn't ask for any registrant change. :)

BSleazy 12-06-2012 03:40 PM

Yup no problems.

I do see that camgirls.com has whois protection. Not sure why some don't.

I accidentally assigned whois protection for mine around a year ago and got an email about it right away. They must have changed their rules.

Yeah I think they are trustworthy too, just had to ask around to be sure about the Registrant info details :) Definitely happy they gave me a couple of WL's for sure :thumbsup

You might be right about them changing their rules recently about needing the registrant info needing to be in their names. Camhub is another WL that kept it's owner's name in the Registrant info. :)

cruxop 12-07-2012 11:53 PM

I don't think there's anything to worry about it. It's probably a regulation that their payment provider is making them follow, or else they'd be hit with a charge of "aggregating payments for 3rd parties".

ErectMedia 12-08-2012 08:48 AM

my white labels with them have their name/address but my email and phone, so keep your own email and phone on it and no worries as any transfer of a domain would go to the email listed which is mine although even if all info was theirs doubt you would have any issues with them, it's for billing purposes they want it changed :2 cents:

2intense 12-08-2012 10:39 AM

don't worry ,i have wl's with them for years, they don't need your names and you are still the owner ,u have to change only registrant name and adress, they do not require to change the phone or email adress
