If you weren't around late 1990's - early 2000's you probably wouldn't. It's the same idea. Just souped up, but doomed just the same.

So this will take Reddit down.
Sounds like yet another Jay iq70 thread.

I know what dmoz is, they are miles apart.

Whilst i'm not sure what you are banging on about with the dmoz comparison.

My thoughts on the only thing that could *slow* reddit down is the amateur adult content with zero control over age etc... Doubtful it would stop reddit, however could remove those subreddits. The bulk of the reddit community does not even look at the adult part of it or even know it exists.

Bingo. The biggest disaster Reddit had that could possibly take them down was r/jailbait and that has been dealt with.

They're owned by a major company and has the funds to stay alive through anything... Not to mention Alexis' popularity and fame keeping and bringing new eyes on the site.

Reddit is here for a while and won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

I miss DMOZ. got in good with a couple of editors and got sites listed their with ease. DMOZ listings would have you ranking on AOL search almost immediately and back in 1999 that was a very good thing.

I remember that - but AOL-based traffic was a major pain to deal with - all the dumbass surfers sending the most ridiculous emails (mostly tech support). It was mind-numbing and time consuming to deal with.
