frustrations of a hand submitter
 

I've just started submitting in the last month or so...
I use G.A.S.S. and am very happy with it, but there are a few things tgp's do that seem to discriminate against hand submitters.

Here is a fairly short list of the things I'm talking about

1 forcing submitters to use cryptic randomly generated passwords.

If you use an auto-submitter than you simply type the password into the program once and only once and never worry about it again.

If you are a hand submitter you wind up with a giant flat file that you have to scroll through for every single tgp you submitt to every single time you submitt to it. I don't understand the need for a password anyway...why not just track by email address since they have to confirm by email anyway. It's not anymore secure since the passwords are passed across the web in plain test any damn way

2 enforcing the one submitt a day rule by allowing only one submitt every 24 hours.

The auto-submitter is programable so that it can make it submitt at any given time 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

The hand submitter (being a mere mortal) might not have the luxury of planning his (or her) life around when the submitt goes out. For instance today I had to go shopping with my wife(also known as she who must be obeyed ;-}), so now it's about 6pm and if I do a submitt now, I can't do one in the morning like I ussually do. Why not set it by calendar date... It doesn't really matter when the cut off is just so long as the submitter knows when it is and can plan their day accordingly

3 (and this is the one that really chaps my ass) Blacklisting for stupid shit... I have been blacklisted for honest mistakes(i.e. submitting the wrong URL)

The auto-submitter once you've set it up will never submitt the wrong URL, or have a typo, or accidentally select the wrong category.

The hand submitter given enough time will fuck every one of those things up at least once... I promise.
I understand blacklisting someone for trying to screw you... for instance I have never accidentally redirected traffic or added pop ups, or any of that mad crap.

4 no (or inacurate) description lengths
With an auto submitter you only go through this agony once... not every damn time.

Why oh God why can't people simply say how long the description can be. Some do, but many don't. There's nothing quite as agravating as submitting the same page 3 or 4 thousand times because the TGP owner has decided that the allowable description length is top secret information.
It seems odd to me that I keep hearing tgp owners piss and moan about autosubmissioners (such as Russian submitter) and then proceed to use scripts that seem to make life harder for hand submitters.
It makes me think that I'm fucking up and I oughta just pay for an auto submitter, it would save me about an hour daily and more importandly it'd be less of a damn headache.

Anyway, sorry to rant I'm just a little bitter that I have to decide whether to submitt tonight... or tomorrow.

Sounds like you are making a great case for using an autosubmitter. I've used GAAS, but advanced submitter is a much nicer tool for hand submits. I use it to hand submit to the top 30 and auto submit to another 1200 using autogallerysubmitter (see sig) and can do all that in about 15 min.

Just hand submit with GASS or whatever you like to the top 20-50 TGP's....for the rest use an autosubmitter.
If the #1092 TGP won't take your gallery because its autosubmitted you lost all of 3 hits or something.

With all the time you're wasting you could be making more galleries, making AVS sites, submitting to SE's, shit that'll make you more money.

yeah... I think you both definitely are correct, it just annoy's me hearing people whine about autosubs, then making it damn near impossible to hand submitt:BangBang:

Yes that pisses me off to, if I make the description too long. It will tell me to go back and fix it and I have to re-do the form.

Also tgps that aren't taking submission's anymore or stop updating but leave the submit form intact, without the submitters knowing it wasting our time.

shipwreck, I feel your pain. I started doing galleries just a little while ago, and I'm sick of this shit already. I just downloaded Russian Submitter, the plan of hand-subbing to the bigger places and then sending out a barrage of autosubmits everywhere else sounds good to me.

The thing with the mysterious description length pisses me off, too. I start out with a really good descrip that will catch the surfer's attention, and by the time I've pared it down to the character length that Joe-whoever's submission form will accept, I'm left with "big tits" or "hot babe." FUCK!

That's it, I'm gonna go blow some shit up in Half-Life and then go to bed and start messing with RS tomorrow morning. :ak47:

What's so difficult on submitting a gallery to 20 tgps manually every day? The only thing I did to safe some time is bookmarking the submit URL's.

I get over 200k at my galleries without any freaking tool except internet explorer

I´ve just been checking out http://www.gallerysubmitter.com (I belive it´s also known as GAAS) but I have some problems with GAAS / ISP ...

Could someone ICQ me on 24094080 for a little help, hints and advices please ?

Hi Luciferr,

Gallerysubmitter.com doesn't have anything to do with GASS :) GASS is a manual tool, where AutoGallerySubmitter does the exact same thing, only automatically. GASS is perfect for assisted hand submissions - but we prefer to do it automatically without having to fill in anything apart from a few details.

You don't have to worry about how to fill in forms or worry about rules or form changes. All that's taken care of automatically :)

You should try it!

Broda - Gallery Submitter is a good tool, but you fail to mention that anyone that uses it, is limited to only using sponsors that are in the GS 'approved' list, and that they have to sign up to these sponsors using the GS Ref code, before being able to use GS. Just something that you might want to explain to folks. :2 cents:

My number 1 frustation with tgps is that some scripts dont see .wmv movies, wtf is with that? Especially most Mad scripts(excetp Madthumbs ironically).

Fix those scripts, Im sure some tgp's are missing out on some great movie galleries. Like mine :)

I do btw. have W2K Server with all sorts of Frontpage Extension but it will NOT .. Repeat .. WILL NOT support CGI-scripts ..
