Simcity 4(k) is out, anyone tried it yet?

Im getting the game as we speak and im pretty excited to see what they've done with it and how it will blow sc3k away (or so i hope)

I see lots of addons out there so i assume it has been out for a a while and assume some of you have tried it.

It's very nice, but the graphics are slow as crap even on a very high-end system... methinks they forgot how to write clean code.

chupacabra 02-17-2003 04:21 PM

its great, much better than SimCity3000 was (which sucked, not near enough micro-management!)... you do need a fast system though, it can bring my dual Xeon 1.8GHz system to its knee's..!

I won't even bother trying it on my old 1giger

Chong 02-17-2003 04:22 PM

now by 'getting the game'...do you mean downloading it illegaly? :winkwink:

and yeah, that game is laggy as hell, i'd still recommend it though heh

MrPopup 02-17-2003 04:25 PM

EA sent me an advance copy.....

i like it but im still not fussy on the interface-for-idiots style option and game controls.....

somebody at EA nees to study Jakob Nielsen ...

SquarePants 02-17-2003 04:25 PM

We have been palying it and it seems to play okay on our machine. You do need a good graphic card though.

That is exactly what i mean. If i like the game i will have no problems actually buying it.

Until retail stores change their no refund on opened software, even though it isnt quite what it says it is or i am unhappy with it i will continue to try games before i buy them.

Why should i waste thousands of dollars on software i use once to find out it isnt what i wanted and am stuck with it? I will not be taken hostage by the software makers/retail stores.

B.Diker 02-17-2003 04:35 PM

yeaa here i am

it's time to test it :)

with my ati radeon 9700pro + 512mb ddr ram + p4 2.0ghz

it is flying :)) so go with ati

i recommend it to you.

dirtyone 02-17-2003 05:06 PM

Graphics were great... slow as hell on my system... >1ghz.
I could not run a city and make money though but was able to slow my losses down after reading the forum on the sc4k website.

Overall I like it but lke any game it had certain things I didn't care for... The traffic IA is all screwed up in my opinion.

Attitudes like that are killing the game industry.

Give it a fucking rest. I own an unchipped PS2 with 10+ games. I have bought a few games which i did little more than turn it on to find out it quite wasnt as i had originally thought it would be.

Why the hell should i pay for an keep anything i dont like? It is the same thing with software packages. You buy a package because you think you could do something but to find out you could not.

I downloaded 5 or 6 different accounting programs before picking one and actually spending the money to buy the package, for multiple computers might i add.

When a company makes a decent game which i will play for more than 5 minutes before forgetting about it i will gladly spend the $80+ per game.

I gave away free porn to all my simians. Just like in real life. And they are happy. I am broke, but I am glad to know the simians are happy.

Actually, Sega got beaten in the console market and now only makes games... get with the times

Hot Tropical Babes 02-17-2003 05:31 PM

Their titles in general are increasing in market share at the moment as well...

Dont you wish you could return it and get "The Sims" ? See, we're getting screwed over here. Quite honestly, i would go find "The Sims" on Kaza and just play it.

You can do more productive work when you focus on one thing only. They probably had a shitload of money from operating costs saved from the console div. to get some real coders & graphic artists to do the games ;)

None the less, sega was still pretty good back in its time.. i remember it being quite the shit back in the day.

SexySites 02-17-2003 05:39 PM

yea its fucking well good :D

laters,
Chris

MrPopup 02-17-2003 06:42 PM

I think their hardware business died because of their history of releasing too much shitty hardware, too soon (Sega CD, 32X), underestimating the market's move to 3D games (Saturn was developed as the ultimate 2D console, and they had to add another processor at the last minute when they seen what Sony had in store with the PSX), plus not being able to secure good third party support for any of their consoles after the Genesis due to their stupid hardware decisions.

The Dreamcast was great hardware. Too bad everyone lost faith in them from their past mistakes.
