Only in China..
Luo Baogen a man in China, didn't want to sell his house to make way for a road, so they built the road around his house..(and the electric pole).. Something tells me this is going to turn out badly one late night..

Is that Farm Simulator 1995? |
:) quick way for him to get on the highway though.

I think a speeding tractor trailer that doesn't make the turn will soon solve the dilemma for everyone.
|
That reminds me of this big house there used to be back home. It was on a small country road and the state came through and put a four lane highway in. There was an argument between the house owners and the state. It was eventually settled by just cutting half of the house down and leaving the rest. The people never walled it off or anything, it just sat here cut in two for about twenty years.

There used to be a house right by the duty free on the Detroit side of the Ambassador bridge, he refused to sell so they built the customs plaza around him. Not sure if it's still there.
|
Weird. You'd think they have some solid eminent domain laws in china.
|
could probably pick up a lot of chicks if you just sit outside with some alcohol on a friday/saturday night :thumbsup
|
In the USA they would have simply taken his property under imminent domain law and booted him out.
|
There is a house in the middle of the M62 motorway here where they refused to sell up so the road splits and goes either side.
|
Wonder if he's enjoying the proximity to the high voltage power lines, too.
I've read they can sometimes have nasty health effects on people sensitive to it. |

I just wonder if the man can sleep soundly at night with his house in the middle of the highway. Jesus, one night with a drunk driver can end straight up to that house.. :Oh crap

He should seal the windows and doors on the bottom floor and pump it full of concrete.

He should turn it into a restaurant with a gift shop.

back in the day they wouldve just shot him.
China's come a long way. |
must be cool to live there
|

THey are pimp

While I can understand him not wanting to sell considering he probably wasn't getting offered shit for it but then again that place looks like a hell hole. My step-dad had a house that the DOT bought out and they made him an offer and then sent codes in and made him do half the price in repairs to the home before they paid him only to bulldoze it a few weeks later.. Government at it's best...

ha that's incredible and really really stupid.
ironic that in a Communist country a private property owner was allowed to keep his home and in the United States, Canada and other democratic countries the government can expropriate your home and there's nothing you can do about it. ironic but i'm siding with the right of government to do that, can't let some old cat lady who's lived in a house 50 years stand in the way of progress. |
I have to turn people on to the only in china sites there are some amazing pics on those sites.
|
A road like this around a house is something that I have not seen before. The residents would have to be very careful walking around the house. The cars could be going 60 km/hr – that is dangerous. What an original construction.
|
That house would make a great whorehouse and Kinko's.
