Pretty freakin dumb to register such a domain name

... for christ sake, I am not britney, let me in !!!

besterman 02-17-2003 01:29 PM

You should contest it for two reasons:
1) you have nothing to lose and I doubt they will sue you, and if they do you probably have no money to pay them anyway :)
2) the trademarking of personal names is not at all clear, it'd be fun to argue it

Why don't you just not use her name for your profit and leave her alone?

TheGoldenChild 02-17-2003 01:41 PM

Chaff-

Drop it close the site , and be done- this is all part of Norm Zadeh's Perfect 10 litigation......

He will win his cases too because the copyright infringemnet is there, coupled with his attorney LARRY RUDOLPH

let me guess did the attorney's name happen to read THAT name?

I know first hand that they will win, and they if the were to lose ( which they won't) they will then sue your ISP- and Processor

Sorry to say that this has already started :-((

Ask CEN, and Adult Check about Norma and his lawsuits...they are too familiar

p`mpd0g 02-17-2003 01:47 PM

No, but this isn't really about copyrights or trademarks. It's about using legal threats to shut down sites that Britney doesn't like using an area of law that has not been decided in the courts yet. If it were about copyright infringement, he'd be attacked by the copyright holders.

Trax 02-17-2003 01:53 PM

easy solution
contact raiden from adult-host.nl
as the domain name lets you meantion their servers are located in the netherlands where celeb stuff is legal
you just gotto move your shit over to him
BUT
you cannot keep the domain name
get a new one and post a pic of britney getting a cumshot on the startpage since they can nearly do nothing about that :)

nevertheless i kinda agree to what has been said so far
still think you should know that
damn
am i a friendly person *suprisedmyself* :D

Pipecrew 02-17-2003 01:55 PM

anyone wanna buy

britney-exposed.com?

:)

I have it laying around

thats kinda what i thought.. there is no trademark issue here, or copyright stuff.. illegal pics, or pics with her head on them maybe.. but not the domain name.. but when you put those pics on that domain, then i can see the problem. If I put up pics of my dog on that domain, they couldnt do shit..

How is this any different than me regging tawneystoner.com and putting up some pics of pot plant with a hot ass chick smokin weed...

Yep, I have nothing but respect for you...great job at showing the world that Adult Webmasters aren't complete sleazebags. After all, I would be happier then shit when my young daughter or son was looking for fan material on Britney, and got your site instead.

Are you really this stupid, or do you just play a stupid person on adult bulletin boards...

Was pretty silly to register the url.

well.... actually.... there's ways to only target keywords like "britney nude"....

so the site woudnt even be in the top 200 on google, Yahoo, etc... for the key phrase "Britney Spears"

so you're saying all site showing nude celebrity is now morally wrong because some kids might enter one of those site thinking that its about their favorite celebs....???

hey just a wild idea here... what would you do if your 10y/o would type the word sex.. because they heard it at school..??

Since when you let kids surf the web without parental surpevison or filtering software...?

Actually, he does have a point, though.

I don't agree with people using terms that children could potentially be looking for, but I also wonder how many parents who complain actually do something proactive like monitoring their kids or installing filtering software.

"Britney Spears" is a little different from "Crayola Barney Fun After-School Activity Time," though I understand your point. I'm curious as to what percentage of people searching for Britney are kids looking for tour info vs. guys looking for pictures :)

DatingGold 02-17-2003 03:20 PM

Doh! Find a new domain name.. Celeb stuff always has too much risk for law suits..

The way I see it is:

a) There are literally millions of possible combinations of adult words that can be used for adult domains. None of which could be mistaken for Britney Spears. So, why take the chance of using a name that might be looked at by underage kids.

b) There is a big difference between a child putting in words that relate to porn..and low and behold...finding a porn site, and an innocent child looking for info on their favorite pop star, and finding a porn site.

c) If a person goes through the trouble (and stupidity) of using a pop stars name for a porn site, do you really think he will put adult content in his meta tags. Or, if the page is all graphic images, adult filtering software simply does not work.

But, back to a response xxxdesign-net can understand..blah, blah, blah

True. ;) Wrong word. "Likely" instead of "potentially". Potentially I guess kids could be looking for anything. lol.
