Wtf? Citizens from 15 states have filed petitions to secede from the United States

http://www.usmc-mccs.org/careers/ima...rine-corps.jpg
As of Saturday November 10, 2012, 15 States have petitioned the Obama Administration for withdrawal from the United States of America in order to create its own government.

States following this action include: Louisiana, Texas, Montana, North Dakota, Indiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, North Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, Colorado, Oregon and New York. These States have requested that the Obama Administration grant a peaceful withdrawal from the United States.

Happy veterans day everyone.

Good for them i wish WA was a country

Americans (sorry, some Americans) shout from the rooftops about the wonder of democracy and then cry like babies when it doesn't go the way they want.

babymaker 11-12-2012 02:27 AM

Source? I doubt the states did, maybe some groups within the states.

This will never happen, it would buckle america

It would just be like Europe. It could work. Don't think it will happen, but it could work.

slapass 11-12-2012 02:40 AM

Looks like if you can get 1000 folks to sign, you can request any crazy ass thing. Too bad we can't round the folks up on the petition and ship them off.

Takes 25,000 signatures for it to "require a response".

"AS OF OCTOBER 3, 2011:

To cross the first threshold and be searchable within WhiteHouse.gov, a petition must reach 150 signatures within 30 days.

To cross the second threshold and require a response, a petition must reach 25,000 signatures within 30 days."

Perhaps the response should be "Fuck Off Nutters"

just a punk 11-12-2012 03:11 AM

AFAIK, only Texas has a formal right to secede.

Step 1) Create a new organization: The Online Child Protection Advocacy Group

Step 2) Start a petition to do away with all free porn online, especially targeting and pointing out tube sites and how they are exposing children to porn. Lots of real stats to back this up already. Use the largest tubes and their own stats as examples of how many children they expose to porn daily.

Step 3) Target conservative Christians to get the 25k signatures. Easy peasy.

Step 4) ?

Step 5) Profit. :thumbsup

Texas has been threatening a civil war before Obama won. I'm guessing they are the ones doing this. I don't think it is a bad idea, spare the blood shed and innocent lives.

These assholes would rather destroy the country than have a black guy as president (And that is the crux of the situation, don't let anyone tell you different.) , Fucking sad!!!!!

crockett 11-12-2012 07:31 AM

I haven't seen anything about it but I can take a wild guess and almost bet I'm right.

Small group of extreme right tea baggers are bunch of sore losers and because their guy "lying" Mitt the "Mormon" didn't win they are crying like a bunch of babies..

End result nothing will happen, and they will rant and rave about Obama the Anti-Christ for another 4 years.. Same shit the extreme Right does every time they can't get their way, they cry and whine for attention.

In a perfect world they would all go to Utah or or some other non sense state & actually be successful in secession then we could fence them all in and let them play survival games.

ilnjscb 11-12-2012 07:42 AM

Saying "citizens" lets idiots who don't know that two is plural have a big headline. Seriously? It takes 100 or so people. 10,000 people regularly pay to have their nuts kicked. There are crazy people everywhere. It will be actual real news when a state formally requests to secede.

bronco67 11-12-2012 07:52 AM

Can we bomb them after this secession takes place?

where do you see this "mess" in your personal life?

and how is your personal life affected due to this "mess" compared to let's say 2-3 years ago?

bronco67 11-12-2012 07:58 AM

You realize if this is true, it's all about racism. It's the confederacy all over again.

I'm really scared of conservatives ever getting in the White House again. I've never been much for taking sides until seeing what's been taking place with the right in the last few years. It looks like there's a shift toward more progressive thinking and that's for the better. Bill Maher said on his program the other night "we can be Canada, except with nukes".

Right wingers are going to go down scratching and clawing.

If their party does reform, its not going to be overnight. I think their next move will be to cultivate a Republican star with brown skin, except they'll still have the same shitty platform. So, no Republican president in 2016.

Let me name two;

1) taxes

2) euro currency fluctuation

My personal life isn't affected since I took precautions

beerptrol 11-12-2012 08:24 AM

Give them an island and drop them off on it. Revoke their citizenship, cut off their social security, medicaid or medicare and then see who they run to for help. The US or UN

bronco67 11-12-2012 08:26 AM

So the nutbags who joined this petition speak for every citizen in their state?

You scream racism way to much. Successful business people do not like how the government is running things, There are people on both sides that are not happy. I wish they would let Texas go, and we can see what would happen. on the same note, I won't be signing the petition here in Kentucky.

if i remember correctly, texas is the only state that has a special clause in their union agreement actually allowing it to break off.

- my taxes havent changed, which of your taxes went up in the last 2-3 years?

- the euro has fluctuated in the past and it was way worse before the crisis (remember 1 Euro = $1.65?). and individual currencies before the Euro have fluctuated against the USD as well - let's not forget that.

sorry - but usually it's just trash talking the EU and the Euro with no substantial reason. i am still waiting for someone who can prove me that the EU made his life worse

The comedy of your posts is that you are yourself, everything you hate in others.

if you want to allow your neighborhood to become another middle east then allow the bible belt to form another country. Guaranteed in 20 years this will be religious nutbag 3rd world hellhole bigger than iraq or similar muslim countries.

Lots of sore losers on the democrat side too. Did you not follow the recall drama we suffered through in Wisconsin for the last 2 years?

Texas is likely the only Right wing state in the US that would have much of a chance at being successful if they went on their own. (assuming it was peaceful and no war was involved) Texas overall is really the only good example of a well run "red" state and that's mostly due only to it's natural resources.

The rest of the right wing states would fail horribly, with exception of "maybe" Florida but FL seems to be more of a 50/50 Right vs Left so I don't really consider it a "red" state.

The rest of the Red states would be 3rd world shit holes with in a few years if it wasn't for the Federal Govt propping them up with subsidies.

Let them secede, most of those red states suck more money from the federal govt than they put in. They would be 3rd world countries within 5 years.

It's only the Right Wingers that tend to be trying to secede every time their guy loses. It will never happen so I'm not really worried about it and I was just giving a opinion on if they could be successful or not. IMO Texas as I said would be the only state that could be successful and that's only if they did it on their own and not as part of a "group".

Personally, I wish the Right would pull their heads out of their asses and regain some common sense, because it would be better for the country as a whole. Instead they just keep pushing to divide the country further.. so as George Bush said.. "Either you're with us or against us".

Given the two choices, I'm against them until they bring back some sanity to their little political party.

We just got a new government last week, their new policies involve huge tax increases.
There was a proposal which could be ending up to 500 euro a month in additional taxes depending on your situation. That proposal stranded already within a week.

But take the economy figures from Switzerland and Sweden (both not maintaining the euro) and compare these to your own country.

I don't think it would ever happen, the Fed won't allow it, but I do think it would work if one or some of the States at the balls to do it.

I don't mean with a currency. I meant the large land mass divided up among smaller countries, instead of one large country with a lot of smaller states.

Tom_PM 11-12-2012 09:26 AM

There was also a recall in California. Remember the rise of the Governator? haha.
Recall != grandstanding secession buttsore.
