Real Quick Question for XBOX gamers ?
I know you dont know for sure, but lets have your best guess...
1) When is next gen due out? 2) Will it be backward compatible with 360? I wanna get a console, but I feel its a bit late in the game for a 360... So, just curious - Eager to buy and play, but not if I feel, Im being shafted? |
I know the original/360 was backwards compatible for about 90% of games with an update. Other than that? Not this year. I assume with the state of the economy, they will attempt to make it as backwards compatible as possible - otherwise people will get pissed (online) and that's the last thing a tech company needs... a million pissed off gamers going viral and talking their sales into the ground.:2 cents:

My brother is a regional manager for GameStop, so I just shot him a text. He's not heard any chatter at all about the next gen, which probably means at least a year off. He also agrees that more than likely, it will be backwards compatible, especially with all the add ons out now (like Kinect).

Yup, still plenty of life in the 360 and PS3 yet.
The games magazines etc have been speculating on the new machines but they are still a year away at least... |
It's safe to still buy such a unit now.
|
The release date hasn't been officially announced yet, but a lot are saying that it should be in time for Christmas '13. But there could be delays, which happens a lot..
|
Next gen coming around spring or maybe it was fall 2013 or maybe later.
|
To be honest i'm ready for the new consoles anyway. There's only so many Call of Duty updates and yearly Fifa versions than i can deal with. Especially when the graphics don't seem to get any better...
|
I've been wondering that myself. I love my xbox360, but the only game I play all the time is Grand Theft Auto. I haven't seen or heard anything about a next-fen Xboz but I'm guessing it will be backwards compatible with some games at least. I'd buy one anyway - they're cheap enough thats for sure and have lots of value when it comes to just kicking back and playing.

Friend of mine said some places are selling the Xbox360 250GB and two games for $200 on Black Friday and they're also coming out with a 320GB I believe it was.
So it sounds like they're expanding the HD sizes and creating new versions still. Don't think a new version will be out any time soon, IMO. With the amount of digital content they're adding, they NEED to increase HD size, or allow users to add their own. DLC's, Movies, Music, etc. you're going to need more than 250GB which isn't even close to that with all of the bullshit they have on there already anyway. |
Best Buy has them on sale on black friday

Next gen consoles will never launch in spring/summer. The trend is November. I personally think its too early to launch next Fall/winter as we've heard so little at this point. But thats just my opinion.
Its not a bad time to get an xbox as they are so damn cheap right now. |
Nobody know the exact date yet but It will probably lunched in the second part of 2013.

I remember reading up on this last year.
Kinnect and Playstation move were released to extend the life cycles of both the PS3 and Xbox 360. Adding another 4-5 years. Move and Kinnect have been about 1 or 2 years so far? So my guess is there is still atleast 2-3 years left on the current systems. There wasn't anything at E3 this year other than the Wii U so you're definately safe for 12 months I would say. |
