Simple question: if liking Lana Del Ray thing is the same as liking Celion Dion?

You can likely admit to your friends that you like Lana Del Ray and not risk getting punched in the balls. . . I can't say the same about Celine. :)

Are you kidding me? Compare Lana to Celine??? haha Celine's audience is soccer moms and grandmas and geriatrics - Lana is a phenomenon with 20 something indies and scenesters... shes a performance artist as much a singer. She has grit and shes dirty and cool and funky, her approach is self deprecating and darkly humorous. Celine Dion? Shes just a lounge act with an over inflated ego and her pipes are no better than your average American Idol contestant - shes a fading joke...Lana is a rising superstar.

Well, that clip you posted below is awesome. I wouldn't call Celine a joke, but sooner or later everyone fades out, you show no mercy, fellah.

Lana Del Ray is not a phenomenon. I'd be surprised if her debut album sold 1 million copies. It was such a stinker that they rereleased it hoping to snag a few more sales.

If you think you know anything about what is happening in music, and gauge success by traditional "album" sales - well my friend then you are a dinosaur - even though you do have a very cool GFY name.

She is such a phenom that people were recently camping overnight just to get into a premiere of her latest music video. Enjoy your Streisand albums and your Celine Dion and your REO or whatever has-beens that you may enjoy, but opining on what's happening in new music, young persons music...just aint your bag baby.

heh, the only reason she even got a contract is because of her dads connections. i kinda doubt she'll have staying power. an interesting voice but little range.
